Total Hoosier dominance.
IU just opened up a capital campus in Washington D.C.
It will serve as a “centralized location for students, faculty researchers and alumni to engage directly with the decision-makers shaping national and international affairs,” according to an IU press release.
Indiana Gov. Mike Braun wants to eliminate property taxes for seniors and those who have paid off their mortgage.
This is the same state government that removed tax relief for first time homeowners in a property tax bill last year because it would have allegedly harmed local schools.
Yet under this proposal, Braun would pay zero dollars in property taxes on his huge, nearly 10,000 square foot home with hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer-funded improvements.
The hypocrisy & hatred of young adults here is insane.
It’s incredibly anti-family.
Populist candidates like @SpeakerHansen who are willing to stand up for American families are the future of the Republican party!
Watch @Schilling1776 make this point on CNN:
South Dakotans deserve a governor who will stand firm against the cultural left and put parents and kids first.
@SpeakerHansen is that leader.
Catch APP’s 30-second ad, airing statewide below:
Huge endorsement for @SpeakerHansen! This endorsement speaks to the work that Jon has done for the conservative movement over the years, he will continue that same good work as governor.
The Pope has weighed in: AI isn't magic. It is produced by a currently deeply exploitative, extractive supply chain. It challenges human dignity; it could fuel a new colonialism. And among the greatest challenges of our time will be to redirect its path of development.
Pope Leo XIV on AI:
“Artificial intelligence needs to be disarmed. The word [disarmed] is strong I know, but deliberately chosen because this moment needs words capable of attracting attention, awakening consciences, and indicating paths forward for humanity.”
JUST IN: Vatican releases Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, on safeguarding the human person in the time of AI. https://t.co/6Zn5OMJvdn
On Transhumanism and Posthumanism, Pope Leo XIV writes:
“If the human being is treated as something to be perfected or surpassed, it becomes easier to accept that some lives are less useful, less desirable or less worthy. In the name of progress, ‘necessary sacrifices’ may begin to be justified, placing the burden on the most vulnerable in pursuit of a supposed optimization of the species. … For this reason, a clear distinction must be made. It is one thing to integrate technology within a human-centered, relational vision; it is quite another to be guided by an outlook that devalues human limits and promises a purely technical form of ‘salvation.’”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the “Teddy Bridgewater Act” into law on Friday, per @AP, meaning high school coaches in the state will now be able to use their own money to help their players with expenses such as food, transportation, physical therapy and rehabilitation services.
As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.
Not only is @DustyJohnson duplicitous in pretending he isn’t behind negative ads--he's being funded by the exact corporate interests he's always served: carbon pipeline backers, open primary activists, and liberal megadonors trying to buy control of SD.

Hey kids, things are pretty bad right now, and we're doing our best to build a technology that will make them worse as fast as we can. You can't escape it, it will be everywhere. You must learn to love this thing if you want to survive. Congrats!
@BrianLewisSD Average West River rancher when they hear that their state lawmaker doesn’t want kids to read pornographic smut in schools from a poorly generated AI meme.
D.C. Dusty flip-flops again—as recently as *within the last month,* Dusty expressed support for this property tax legislation. Don’t believe me? Watch it for yourself:
Data centers poll badly because nobody wants to live near noise & nobody likes their electricity bills going up, especially if those negative consequences also enrich tech oligarchs, kill off jobs, ruin kids' brains & produce stupid Internet videos. This isn't hard to understand.
Big Tech companies are sprinting forward, building data centers as fast as they can, sometimes using eminent domain to seize the land by force, making their AI more and more powerful, expanding the technology at lightening speed with no guardrails of any kind at all. Yet none of these tech gurus or any of their apologists have even attempted to explain what exactly all of the millions of people who lose their jobs, and the increasing numbers who lose their homes, all sacrificed on the AI altar, are supposed to do. How does society support millions of unemployed and displaced people? What becomes of a society where algorithms and machines do everything, and a few people become trillionaires while millions more lose everything? There is no answer to any of this. They aren’t even attempting to answer it. Instead we’re simply told that China exists and we have to “beat them” in some unspecified way, in order to achieve some unspecified goal. We’re going to obliterate entire industries, entire categories of jobs all at once, and the only justification anyone can give is “China.” It’s madness.
Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) complains, "I don't know when Republicans quit being interested in killing communists," likens Ukraine to Britain in World War II, and declares his confidence that both Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise understand the Ukraine war funding must continue
