She is a world champion and a 7 time USAV Female Beach Player of the Year.

In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth2021, the Austin Prep Volleyball team would like to recognize April Ross. She is a professional beach volleyball player. She won an Olympic silver medal in 12’ with partner Jennifer Kessy and a bronze medal in 16’ with Kerri Walsh-Jennings.

She currently is the indoor and beach volleyball coach for Long Beach City College. She was inducted into the volleyball hall of fame in 2016

In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth2021, the Austin Prep Volleyball team would like to recognize Misty May-Treanor. She is a retired professional volleyball player. She is a 3 time Olympic Gold Medalist for the US in beach volleyball with her former partner Kerri Walsh-Jennings.

She has won a gold medal with her beach volleyball partner Misty May-Treanor in 04’, 06’ & 08’ & a bronze medal in 12’ with April Ross. She is currently training for the 21’ Olympics with partner Brooke Sweat.

In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth2021, the Austin Prep Volleyball team would like to recognize Kerri Walsh-Jennings. She is a well known professional beach volleyball player.

In college she played indoor volleyball for Stanford and helped her team win 2 national championships in 96’ & 97’. She has won numerous beach volleyball medals throughout her career. She has represented the United States at the Olympics from 00’-16’.

She also helped her team to win the NCAA championships in 89’ for CSU, Long Beach. Also won the Honda sports award in 90’ for best collegiate women’s volleyball player.

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth2021, the Austin Prep volleyball team would like to recognize Tara Cross-Battle. She was an indoor volleyball player. Career highlights include a bronze medal at the 92’ Olympics.

Flo was an Olympic medalist in 1984. She had one of the hardest spikes in the game. She was inducted to the volleyball hall of fame in 1988.

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth2021, the Austin Prep volleyball team would like to recognize Flora “Flo” Jean Hyman. She is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time.

Rita Buck-Crockett was the first African American woman to win a beach volleyball world championship in 89’. She is now coaching her 8th season at FIU as well as the assistant Athletic Director.
