From losing homes in natural disasters to living out of her car during the pandemic, Kim’s journey hasn’t been easy—but it’s been marked by grit, love and unshakable determination. Originally from western Kansas, Kim made her way to Austin in 2017 after years of navigating life’s twists and turns alongside her son, Jordan. In October of 2023, after reaching out to the Charlie Center, Kim and Jordan moved into Community First! Village, where they now live just around the corner from one another. Since then, life has taken a hopeful turn. Jordan works in our Genesis Gardens operation and also receives support from Integral Care, while Kim has found steady ground and a renewed sense of peace within the Village, especially through her involvement in our Art House program.

Known for her quiet strength and deep compassion, Kim believes everyone has a story and that every person deserves dignity. For her, the Village isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to heal, grow and be surrounded by a community that truly cares.

Most Americans don’t like government waste. The goal isn’t the issue. The who matters. Elon Musk is not only unqualified to do this — his business interests make him compromised. He has proven to be a wholly untrustworthy person. He is the worst spreader of misinformation on this platform. I won’t even get into the Nazi salute, but he is aligned himself with dangerous, extreme politics abroad that should have everyone concerned.

But for the sake of argument, let’s take his politics out of it. USAID doesn’t even comprise 1 percent of the federal budget. By far the most wasteful portion of government is the department of defense — which no one wants to touch. Anyway, Musk has weaponized this platform by making false claims that USAID was creating bioweapons. No evidence. Zero proof. He’s amplifying fake videos and this is the person we’re supposed to trust to vet out government corruption? He made a dubious claim yesterday that FEMA used $59 million on undocumented people. Where’s the proof? Considered he’s lied countless times on this platform, why on Earth would you ever trust him in this position.

I apologize for the length of this post but suddenly the U.S. is targeting South Africa because of his influence. He’s the child of apartheid and he has convinced Trump to withhold aid from South Africa to return land to white landowners. Like … what? What has that got to do with America?

He is creating absolute chaos. And let’s not forget he’s targeting arms of the government that we’re investigating his specific companies. He is a billionaire who now has so much control in our government and I’m trying to figure why everyone else isn’t completely alarmed by this as well. Literally every red flag is there. But because we have a considerable amount of the population has lost trust in the government, and he feeds on this so you don’t pay attention to what he’s really doing. That man should not have access to sensitive financial information of the American people. We did not vote for him, and we didn’t vote for that.

Also, if USAID was as corrupt as we’re being led to believe … why was Marco Rubio in full praise of the organization a few years ago? Was it corrupt when Ivanka Trump used $50 million from the organization to aid girls and women in underdeveloped countries during Trump’s first presidency?

Again, I have no doubt that government could be leaner. Elon Musk is not the person to do that.
