The young people of this country are the ones that will save this country. Once we return to the values of meritocracy in public service, such talent will not go to waste.
🚨 Questions Emerge Over IEBC Clerk Payments During Recent Voter Registration Exercise❗
Questions have emerged over payment disparities among temporary election staff engaged during the recent voter registration exercise, with some clerks claiming the amounts received at the end of the assignment differed sharply from the daily rates outlined in contractual agreements and public recruitment notices.
One voter registration clerk attached to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) claims they received lower pay than several colleagues after the exercise, even though he says he registered more than 1,500 new voters while others processed far fewer registrations during the same period.
According to the clerk, explanations provided informally linked the payment difference to his deployment at an institution-based registration centre, a claim that has now triggered questions over whether remuneration varied depending on posting location, workload classification, or internal payment structures used during the exercise.
"Hi Cyprian. I recently worked as an IEBC voter registration clerk and the pay, according to the contract and advert, was Ksh 1,500 per day, only to end up receiving Ksh 26,000 while my colleagues received Ksh 38,000 at the end of the exercise. On reaching out, naambiwa it's because I was posted in an institution where I registered over 1,500 new voters. Some of my colleagues registered less than 300 new voters but at least got higher pay. I would wish to know how much other VRCs who were posted in institutions received."
Raila is gone and he cannot hear, he cannot speak, and he cannot come back to babysit anyone’s politics.
The political babies who were spoon-fed by him, who suckled from his name, his networks, his courage and his sacrifices, must now grow up and chart their own way.
Let the dead be dead, and let the living do living things.
This habit of telling Kenyans, “Raila said this before he died” or “Raila wanted this” is useless political witchcraft. If you are alive, speak for yourself and If you want power, fight for it.
In African tradition, a child who refuses to stop breastfeeding long after the mother is gone becomes a village embarrassment.
Raila’s grave should not become a political kitchen where lazy leaders go to warm yesterday’s food.
Let the living chart their way and let the dead rest.
