I'm sorry, but it isn't clear to me at all. It seems to me that Amazon wanted to make a mud pie, only not using mud, if you know what I mean. Did Mallozzi create a show he knew fans would love, but Amazon insisted must include wokeness? Or, did Amazon want it woke from the get go and he gave them something woke-free?
