For the first time in history, 270 media outlets from over 70 countries joined together to make themselves heard. Front pages, websites, social media profiles, and broadcasts went dark to demand a stop to the killing of journalists and call for press freedom in Gaza.
In October 2025, the RSF seized El Fasher, killing thousands in days in one of the deadliest massacres of Sudan’s civil war. For a new documentary, @LHreports and @AJFaultLines traveled to Uganda to hear survivors’ stories.

Meet 93-year-old Dorothy - she could be forced out of her care home if her Reform-led council closes it.
But ahead of the local elections in England, she's speaking out - urging people to vote and stop Reform winning more seats.

👋 from the annual Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, UK.
If Labour wants to embody its values, it must speak up for the vulnerable - like the 260,000 trapped and starving civilians in El Fasher, Sudan, at risk of a massacre right now.
The more of us raise our voices, the more likely Labour leaders and the 20,000 or so delegates at the conference will hear our message.
Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper: You can save lives. Pick up the phone to the UAE. Tell them to stop backing the fighters attacking civilians. Demand safe passage NOW.
Tag @keirstarmer, @YvetteCooperMP, @FCDOGovUK and @uklabour to show them the world wants action.

Thank you, Foreign Secretary — 75 people were killed in a mosque in El Fasher just now—a quarter of a million are at risk. Yes to all that you list, and please diplomatically engage President Mohammed bin Zayed of the UAE to end support for the RSF and get the RSF to cease all atrocities against civilians in Sudan.

Reports of mass civilian casualties in El Fasher, Sudan are deeply shocking - for too long the warring parties have shown blatant disregard for humanitarian law. We demand accountability, urgent de-escalation and protection of civilians. Aid must be able to reach those in need.
Thank you, @YvetteCooperMP, for highlighting the plight of people across Sudan. Many of them are at imminent risk of atrocities -- so while supportive statements are welcome, urgent action is even better. Trapped civilians in El Fasher need safe, voluntary passage and humanitarian access. Use your power and new role to stop a massacre.
For too long the Sudanese people have endured unimaginable suffering.
The UK welcomes US coordination with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE on steps to end this brutal conflict and enable a peaceful, inclusive transition.
Sudan’s future must be decided by its people.
Week one in your new job, Yvette Cooper — so we stopped by to say hi 👋
But our projections carry a deadly serious message: 260,000 civilians are trapped and starving in El Fasher, Sudan.
Use your power. Pick up the phone. Call the UAE’s @mohamedbinzayed — he could stop the slaughter.
Safe passage for civilians now.
Tag @YvetteCooperMP@FCDOGovUK to make sure they get our message!
From The Independent to RTVE, from Agência Brasil to NPR, media outlets acted together. 550+ stories of coverage and dozens of editorials. The demand is clear: open Gaza to the international press and stop the killing of journalists. #ProtectJournalistsInGaza #LetReportersIntoGaza

Local journalists remain on the ground reporting under bombardment, hunger, and constant threats to their lives. They are some of the only eyes, ears, and voices keeping the world informed.
