“I’m over the political agenda, hypocrisy bs,” Gore wrote. “I took part in it myself. I refuse to participate in it any longer. It’s not serving our party. We have to do better.”
We should all be so brave to look beyond and do the right thing for Texans! https://t.co/FhCOK8Ek0i
@jkirk___ If you haven’t read Glow Kids by Dr. Nicholas Kardaras, I HIGHLY recommend it. I have a Chromebook cart in my room, but have gone ~90-95% back to paper. It has been so great!!! My 10th grade Ss have overwhelmingly expressed their appreciation for the switch!
The freedom to read is under assault—particularly in public schools—curtailing students’ freedom to explore words, ideas, & books. In the 2022–23 school year, PEN America recorded 3,362 instances of book bans in US public school classrooms & libraries.

@DavidNautilus1 A very experienced teacher once said to me “school is sometimes an island for children, an island in a sea of troubles. But they quickly realise that if there’s one safe island, then there may be others.” I’ve never forgotten this, it was 30 years ago. 👍
@TeachMrReed @ShawnaH67903024 I agree w it being a security issue in the hallways & common areas. If I’m in my classroom with my Ss, I want them comfortable. But in common areas, I’d say no. However, many schools allow hats, etc. for “spirit” days. I disagree w this bc security should be priority every day.
@madamednmichael @heymrsbond This week:
S-May I use the restroom?
Me-sure
(S doesn’t come back until class is over ~25 min later)
Me-Are you okay?!
S-Yea, I just couldn’t pass up a game of bball.
Me-What? The restroom is 30 ft that way; the gym is on the other side of the school?!
S-Oh, sorry.
😒🤦🏼♀️😡
@kathglasgow Congratulations! I had a reluctant reader show me your book last year. I moved up &have her again. She said 1 thing on her Christmas list was a hard copy of this book bc she wore out her PB copy. I got it&it will be here tom. So excited! 🤩😊🤗 Ty for inspiring her!
I'm appalled at how often I still see the 1960's "sit still in desks in straight rows" teaching method be heralded as the end all be all of what it means to teach and what it means to learn.
@JayWamsted by our filters! 🤷🏼♀️ Some of my honors kids found a work around. If I didn’t, are they *really* going to pay attention to me while it is on?! Of course not; they’ll just do it on their own phones or device. Plus, my students got to teach me some things.
@JayWamsted I struggled with this today. On one had, I wanted to let them watch it. On the other hand, I was worried about someone walking by/coming in and it being a “gotcha” situation. 🤦🏼♀️ I told Ss if we could get our work done, I’d play it on the screen. Then, it ended up being blocked 1/
@StephenKing How would someone (ME!) go about getting permission from you/your publisher to use “Sorry, Right Number” to teach drama to my HS English students? It used to be in our textbook, but now it isn’t. 😩😫😒 It is so engaging! #KidsLoveIt#MyFavorite
