Today the workers of CapRadio and NSPR asked management to voluntarily recognize our union within 48 hours. You can find information about CapRadio and NSPR United, including our vision statement, on our Facebook page. https://t.co/I1vNjuAwok
This news is gutting, disappointing and worst of all not surprising. Especially considering the biggest outlets in that region don’t provide any meaningful/consistent coverage for the community. If we get coverage at all, it tends to be about, never for. The difference matters. Latino coverage in the Seattle-area is minimal despite the community’s rapid growth. Idk what to say anymore.
Chico State maintenance workers are on strike this morning, joining more than 1,000 fellow union members across the CSU’s 22 campuses. More information at https://t.co/Ut3aACJ22l, and more coming up at 8:30 on Morning Edition
We’ll be here before, during and after the anniversary reporting on the community. If you’d like to share your thoughts or feelings about the kind of coverage you want to see, let us know and we’ll do our best to make sure you’re heard. (End thread)
Me and the NSPR news team will be up in Paradise today tabling at the Paradise Baptist Church food distribution event! We’ve been tabling and holding listening sessions for the last few weeks ahead of the 5 year Camp Fire Anniversary (pt1 a thread)
We’re here and we see you. We want to hear your voice. If you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you. If anyone from the community has something to say about rebuilding, about recovery, about happy memories or sad, we’re listening!
Saw a meteor on my way to the station this morning!! Streak of white and then a bright blue tail. Nearly made me run a red light 😅 Anyone else in Chico see it?
It’s the last few hours of NSPR’s fund drive! 📻 If you can, donate now! We’re short of our goal and really need the support of our listeners. Journalism is suffering, and all of us NEED the help of our audience to keep providing the news you rely on https://t.co/RByvZe0FQx
It’s a hard morning to be in journalism. Reporting on over 20 fires in the North State, hundreds dead in Maui fires. I lost my home and my town in the 2018 Camp Fire and I know what these survivors are now facing. All I can do is keep doing my job and hope it’s enough…
It’s been 3 months since Shasta County was ordered by a county judge to release documents on an investigation launched into sheriff Eric Magrini, now assistant county executive officer. The county is now appealing for another delay. Covering this story this evening on NSPR! 📻
wow I love going into Lowes alone as a female passing human and two separate men approaching me within two minutes asking if I need help. Bruh a bitch just needs some wrenches, I’m good thanks. Go ask the 5 other dudes looking at tools instead
I think I accidentally adopted a horse? A medium to moderate sized wolf. Her name is Luna and she’s as big as a small teenager. When she lays down fully, she’s as tall as I am. I would die for her. She drools. A lot
If you are someone or know someone who is affected my extreme heat, I wanna talk to you! I’m looking for my fellow disabled babes out there, how are y’all doing? (2/2)
hi all! working on a story right now and I’m trying to find people in Butte County who are disabled or caring for someone who is disabled. What is your experience dealing with extreme heat? How does it affect you and what do you do to stay cool? (1/2) #DisabilityTwitter
#PreparedParadise exercise is underway. Did you hear the siren? We have CAL FIRE personnel staged around Paradise if you have questions: former Holiday Market parking lot, Tractor Supply parking lot, Ace Hardware parking lot, and Skyway north of Wagstaff.
Alarms went off approx. 4 times and cut off halfway through. 6 sirens were tested at 90dB. Traffic is still being diverted but the alarm test is complete
SIREN TEST WILL BEGIN IN 5 MINUTES. Police crews will begin diverting traffic at the intersection of Skyway and Wagstaff to simulate an evacuation from a fire at the bottom of paradise/near the veterans center on skyway beginning at 10am
