Ryan Cohen: “Why Does Everyone Want GameStop to Fail?”
$GME CEO @ryancohen:
“The media is an example. Why is it that you've got a ($EBAY) management team with no skin in the game, they're not builders, they haven't built anything themselves before, they've basically just been employees at major companies, they’ve been overpaid, I don't think they've ever broken out a sweat in their entire lives, why does everyone want them to succeed?
But when you have someone that, and by the way, I'm putting $500M of my own money into this transaction, I haven't pulled a penny out of GameStop, and it seems like everyone in the media basically wants us to fail, and wants them to succeed.
And you've got a board that's making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. They don't buy stock with their own money. They end up showing up to a handful of board meetings, and they're making a fortune. You've got a management team that is grossly overpaid, taking zero risk.
There's nothing more American than basically risking your own capital. So why does everyone want us to fail?
@friedberg:
“I do think that the media, in order to give you credibility, they're gonna have to acknowledge that all of their takes on GameStop just being a meme stock were wrong, and that there is actually a business here, and that there is value being created here, and that they missed that, and they got the story completely wrong.”

I have found the key to happiness is gratitude. The thankful are by nature humbled by the grace of others and cognizant of the miracles that surround us every single day.
Today is Roaring Kitty's 40th birthday
In 2019, he put $53,000 into GameStop from his basement in Wilmington, MA
Every hedge fund on Wall Street told him he was wrong
Then January 2021 happened:
• Melvin Capital, Citadel, and Point72 were all short GME with billions
• GME goes from $5 → $483
• Keith Gill's $53,000 becomes $48,000,000
• Melvin Capital loses $6.8 billion. Gone within a year
Then Congress called him to testify. He told them "I did not solicit anyone to buy or sell the stock for my own profit" and walked out a free man
He disappeared from the internet in 2021. Came back in May 2024, posted one photo, and GME opened +50% the next morning
He showed every retail investor that the big guys aren't untouchable
Happy birthday @TheRoaringKitty
Robotics likely won’t have a “chatGPT moment” until we’re well into the industrial ramp for the next gen of automation, meaning you’re getting a nice opportunity to be long improving fundamentals right now and the catalyst of widespread attention is still waiting in the wings.

Update:
I s/w a gentleman @gamestop a few minutes ago who called me on the phone
This issue has been resolved
GameStop made everything right and exceeded my expectations
When I posted this originally last night, I did not anticipate a response nor to have my issue resolved that quickly. I was honestly just messing around when I saw the cancellation email come in late last night. I would have eventually called customer service.
For those in the comments that said “just reorder”, it was a hard to find item that I was going to pick up at a different store by my place of employment. It could not be shipped to me and another one wasn’t available within 100 miles. Per the website, the store had only one in stock.
I know @ryancohen has better things to do then respond to me, but this experience has truly made me feel even better about how things are done at this organization.
Thanks again RC and sorry to bother you. Hope you know I appreciate how hard you and your employees work. The gentlemen who called me was fantastic and super professional. A+ experience.
A lot can happen in 16 hours on X
