ADD: And let's not forget that Advaita (at vyAvahArika), VA & Dvaita accept jIvAs even in plants, animals etc and meditation emphasizes on understanding that all are jIvAs, compared to other 2 which bring up theories like "human soul" and animals with "no souls" or similar//
11) Finally, ignoring that both VA and Dvaita accept that it takes multiple births of arduous sAdhana to even get to a rudimentary understanding of the tattva, which is something entirely absent in Augustine's easily rebutted speculations//
In Dvaita, it is understanding bimba-pratibimba - the closer the jIva is to mUlabimba (Hari), the greater it is as a pratibimba compared to other pratibimbAs.
Reducing all this to saying "they offer devotion in blind faith like Augustine" is incorrect+
10) To elaborate on 9)- In both VA and Dvaita, the starting point is understanding the self as distinct from the body. In VA, it is understanding that the jIva is truly great by nature and by attributive knowledge, omniscient - स च अनन्ताय कल्पते...+
8) Incorrectly saying VA considers jIvAs as "parts of Brahman's body"
9) Incorrectly saying that VA and Dvaita teach that humility and understanding a jIva's smallness is the starting point...+
7) False equivalence of Augustine's "original sin" with karma that is anAdi and has no beginning. Also, even Advaita accepts karma within its vyAvahArika system, so saying only VA and Dvaita understand cause of suffering as karma is again incorrect+
6) In continuation of point 5), Advaita's relative acceptance saguNopAsana and consideration of shruti as pramANa were given some respect. There is a volume of devotional advaita literature like Narayaneeyam, Bhaja Govindam etc that even our Acharyas appreciated+
5) Incorrect assumption - VA & Dvaita criticized Advaitins for "pride" or "lack of devotion". On the contrary, Vedanta Desikan praises Shankara as a Vaishnava who sought refuge in nArAyaNa. Nobody said Advaita lacked devotion. Only philosophical interpretations were criticized+
3) False equivalence of ex nihilo creationism (something from nothing, an absurd proposition even as per science) to Madhvacharya's panchabheda tattva where all tattvAs are eternal
4) False equivalence of blind belief in "grace" to sAdhana of brahmajnAna as revealed in shruti+
So many things wrong in this, I don't even know how to begin:
1) Unlike Augustine's blind faith vs Neoplatonism's reasoning/logic, Advaita vs VA and Dvaita are all based on a common pramANa - the apAurusheya veda
2) Aham brahmAsmi is a shruti vAkya, not an "advaitic phrase"+
We can argue back and forth on paper leaks etc
Paper leaks are terrible. But the broader issue in Indian education is severe supply side constraints coupled with a deep-seated culture of credentialism.
Lack of enough good colleges. Insufficient private capital to fund private institutions that can attract the best teachers. Culture of "college placements" as opposed to students being left on their own to apply for jobs.
This artificial scarcity of good supply caused by an illiberal regime results in a world where too much hinges on 2-3 entrance exams.
Students spend years prepping for those 2-3 crucial days of their life, instead of focusing on all-round development.
This is unhealthy at every level
Our youngsters ought to get to the streets to call for a more liberal regime that allows for more FDI, fewer regulations w.r.t. setting up colleges etc. But we don't do that.
We are a v v introspective people. A guy will get 98th %ile in JEE or CAT, and then wallow in self pity on how he is "not smart enough", as he couldn't get through IIT or IIM
Our boomers kang about their JEE ranks well into old age. JEE rank 100 will look down upon JEE rank 1000 who in turn will look down upon NITK grad who will look down upon RVCE fellow.
Credentialism culture ought to go. Hope AI plays a role in that. "Placements" ought to go too. Let companies evaluate students using their own tests. Let them invest more in talent evaluation and training, instead of going by resume signals.
@pancakalavit@antasthaH@agnimaan I have heard from srIvatsankacharya that some of the advaitins like amalananda also mentioned performance of 5S explicitly. However was unable to trace this. You have any sources of them accepting the ritual?
@antasthaH In that context desika criticises advaitins who twisted their doctrines in accordance with the area where they lived. Whether it refers to vAmana datta only is highly doubtful - could probably refer to advaitins who were allied with bauddhas.
Reason behind Karna's charity
This is when Karna takes Asuri(Asura) vow to destroy Arjun
Till he keells Arjuna Karna :
1. He will never wash his feet.
2. Taste Meat
3. To whoever asks DANA(charity), I will not say NO.
So that CHARITY was part ofvow to KILL Arjuna there is nothing NOBLE about it.

@dyugangaa@VedicWisdom1 The rig veda itself is clear that it was vishnu & indra who made space for sUrya. How can one claim identity then.

stating, 'So-antarad-antaram-pravisat' (He entered into the interior of the interior). The meaning here is that when that Paramatma (bhava) descends, one would indeed speak in exactly that way.
