I realized we're looking at the political divide all wrong. It's not actually Left vs Right, it's Collectivist vs Individualist, and that's a throughline that goes back and holds throughout American history.
@jerseyh0mo They don't have to. They propogandize me through almost every modern movie, TV show, commercial, billboard sign, corporation, store, public transportation, University, College, and school in America.
You all made it illegal for people like me to do the same to you.
I don't blame you for not knowing this, but there is no law for separation of Church and State, and the idea that there is one is another example of propaganda. If you want to know where that came from and why the last SCOTUS decision involving that notion was the first one to take that quote out of context, I'll be happy to explain, but the concept as it's viewed today is backwards from what was originally said and intended.
I didn't use straight as that's not an ideology or a worldview, LGBTQIA+ kind of is. I say kind of because while it's functionally an ideology, new research strongly suggests it's also a psychological response to childhood trauma as children who were sexually traumatized have over a 90% chance of becoming LGBTQIA+ later in life.
Anyway, I was using Christianity to juxtapose with LGBTQIA+ in order to try and help you understand where I'm coming from.
@GGaythr@jerseyh0mo Not at all.
Before I explain, let me see if we can find some common ground.
Would you be willing to agree that it is inappropriate to discuss sexuality, including sexual orientation, with children who are not teenagers yet?
No, you're not following.
If Christians hang up a sign in a school hallway that gas "Jesus loves you!" on it, we are disciplined, suspended, terminated, sued, or charged with a crime depending on where it happens. If you hang a sign that says, "Celebrate your Sexual Orientation!" though, nothing happens.
An LGBTQIA+ organization went to a school and handed out butt plugs and dildos to 14 year old students and instructed them in their use during class time with the teacher and the principle standing there watching, and nobody but the parents of those children cared, but imagine the outcry if it was a Church handing out Bibles instead? It would be national news headlines for months!
Both are ideological in nature, but one is permitted to propogandize children in places like schools, one is not.
That isn't the point, and it's not a false equivalency.
The question is does propaganda influence people or does it not? The answer is obviously yes it does, as your own answer implies, and that is separate from what views or behaviors the propaganda is meant to push onto those who behold it.
If I want kids to help old people across the street, I can release propoganda to influence kids to do that. If I want them to not use hard drugs, I can release propoganda to not do that.
The point is that over the past 20 years, our entire education and entertainment infrastructure for children has been inundated with LGBTQIA+ propoganda, and then people want to claim it has zero influence over the views and behaviors of children, which is an obvious and absurd falsehood.
@GGaythr@jerseyh0mo You did a thing I despise, you didn't actually read what I actually said and made up a strawman argument by shoving words into my mouth!
@alsoalec@jerseyh0mo That's not it at all. You could have LGBTQIA+ people in media and it not be propaganda. There are several movies I can think of where it isn't propaganda.
@ju28102002@wwalz0@jerseyh0mo So because Catholics and Christians pushed nations to mobilize militarily against Muslims violently overthrowing nations, raping and murdering Christian women and children the whole time and enslaving or murdering Christian men, they don't have moral standing?
In the United States, most of everything, good and bad, is straight white people because they're the majority, that's not surprising. Per-Capita though, it's a different story, but it's not due to skin color because when we find smaller pockets of lighter skinned people with a similar culture to what you observe a plurality of dark skinned people have, the Per-Capita distinctions disappear.
Doesn't matter, all the premises and arguments that were used to legitimize the LGBTQIA+ movement apply to then as well to be logically consistent.
In fact, the key scientists, and I use that term loosely here, whose studies were frequent cited to legitimize LGBTQIA+ behavior in courts and before Congress, argued in their research that humans are sexual beings from birth and barring children from exploring sexual activities emotionally and psychologically stunted their growth.
You can claim that you don't accept Pedophiles and Zoophiles and Necrophiles all you like, and more power to you, but the fact remains the LGBTQIA+ movement in their fervor for legitimacy paved the way to legitimize them too, it's only a matter of time.
If you want the summary details as to how, here's the 10,000 foot overview.
To legitimize LGB, the arguments were they are born that way and it's cruel and unusual punishment to criminalize someone's sexual preference. Those arguments can be applied to pedophiles as well using the same research, but pedophilia would still be criminal because at the time it was decreed that children can't consent to things of a sexual nature.
Then Transgenderism came along and started growing in popularity, and one of the arguments made by its proponents is because children are born this way they should be able to consent to permanent alterations that are sexual in nature. Thankfully, that bulwark against sexual perversion hasn't fallen yet for the most part, but it has been steadily crumbling, and if that falls, we will blink and wake up in a world where pedophilia is legal and acceptable.
@gone_roguing@jerseyh0mo Oh, well maybe you should tell that to all the ancient historians who have repeatedly confirmed the existence of Jesus of Nazareth through dozens of extra-Biblical sources that they're all wrong and you're right because a meme on r/Atheist said so.
@CTREM31@daniellismore Right, because your racist cult believes that skin color determines value, behavior, and potential, and especially believes that darker skinned people are incapable of living up to the academic standards expected of lighter skinned people. The KKK would be proud of you.
Separation of Church and State is not a law, it's an interpretation of the 1st Amendment by the Supreme Court citing a letter written by Thomas Jefferson which reversed an earlier interpretation of the same law and the letter written by Thomas Jefferson. The current interpretation is the one that did not cite the entire letter in context, because the point of the letter was that the Government could not interfere with the Church, not the other way around.
It's also not a marketing problem, it's that Christians won't burn down your business or assault your employees or shoot you if you say that you're against them, Leftists will. What you call marketing is mafia shakedown tactics.
