Of 236 former prisoners who joined the AVision for Empowerment CIC B.E.S.T Programme, only five have been re-convicted - a reoffending rate of just 2.1% compared to the national average of 25.6%!

Funded through the Youth Endowment Fund’s Neighbourhood Development Forum, AVision have been delivering courses and workshops to local young people to inspire and encourage them to achieve employment, self-development, and self-belief.

AVision Founder and CEO Avril said “Young people in Lozells and Newtown are very passionate and it’s been great to engage with them. They’ve been learning different types of skills and identifying their own skills. We’ve been working on increasing their self-belief, their values, their goal-setting, how to take action on them, and how to influence their community.”

The Youth Endowment Fund’s Neighbourhood Fund was set up to understand how empowering local people to make decisions about their own neighbourhoods can prevent children from becoming involved in violent crime and anti-social behaviour.
