@Thehuck_59@TSmithy171@RichardBurgon @Caroleshoulder1 Unfortunately the woman in question tells porkies.
She claimed that ALL countries want to get mothers back in work. Many do not.
Germany & Quebec (a province) pay substantial benefits for children & this goes higher #with 3 & more. Estonia has a 3 year maternity leave
@GoodwinMJ The fast approval of the vaccine was done under existing EU rules and open to any EU state. No Supermajority (66%) for a major change. No Simple Majority (50%) minimum in all 4 of England, Scotland, Wales and NI). So you & Tombs have shown no advantages to Brexit. None at all.
@toryboypierce Says it all. The Leavers don’t like being exposed as Xenophobes and Bigots. The only way they can justify themselves is by indulging in their neurosis that the EU migrants are ripping them off.
@daveo99@GoodwinMJ Why didn’t Leave opt for a binding Referendum with all the safeguards? The 2016 Referendum was the equivalent of managing the Housing Market with a a game of Monopoly. It had more holes in it than a Swiss Cheese.
@daveo99@GoodwinMJ The EU had no interest in how we treated immigrants from outside the EU. Spain has very special arrangements for immigrants from its former colonies such as the Philippines and Cuba. Easy entry and fast track to citizenship. BME voters were fooled by Leave.
@HerbertMkHughes@Peston You mean when we stood alone except for the hundreds of millions from the Commonwealth who came to our aid and died for us. And then there were the Free forces from France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Poland etc.
@GoodwinMJ Nonsense. Most Remainers were happy to go along with an EEA compromise solution from 2016-2017. It was only when May started throwing Hard Brexit Red meat at the Tories that it changed.
@hitchbloke @airstripone_ @afneil Leadership of German and French manufacturers come from the great Technical Universities and Business schools. Leadership of British manufacturing came from a very small gene pool often with Classics degrees from Oxford, but little knowledge of business or industry.
@mrjamesob I live on the continent. Shopkeepers & Staff & Police have no trouble enforcing mask rules. They are robust & strict. Ithink those in England need to grow a pair.
Important thread (for me!): With heavy heart I announce I will be leaving the BBC. Despite sterling efforts by new DG to come up with other programming opportunities, it could not quite repair damage done when Andrew Neil Show cancelled early summer + Politics Live taken off air
@FraserNelson Stop conflating medical treatment with Covid-19. Lots of European countries carried on with medical treatments & Covid care. Not so may drunks at A&E or RTA victims, both are a good thing.
@joedunford200@SofiaWillquist@FraserNelson One of the long lasting consequences of Covid is loss of focus and that could lead to an RTA. If right wing fanatics are going to peddle their nonsense (Don’t worry, be happy) they at least need to get their facts right and use well accepted yardsticks like excess deaths.
@SofiaWillquist@FraserNelson So you report the excess numbers of deaths compared with the averages over the last 5 years?
That is the most accurate, but not perfect.
