THE POWERPUFF GIRLS MOVIE turns 24 today.
Craig McCracken used the film to tell the Powerpuff Girls’ origin story, something the TV series had only briefly touched on, making it the first time audiences saw how Blossom, Bubbles & Buttercup were created.
American Gods (2017) looked like it was going to be television’s next great fantasy series. Season 1 was visually daring, unapologetically weird, and unlike anything else on TV. Then Bryan Fuller and Michael Green left before Season 2.
Wow, I always felt there was a reason my spirit held back from celebrating #CliveDavis's life on my platforms. First off, Clive Davis didn’t discover #WhitneyHouston; her incredible talent was a gift from God, and it was her mother, Ms. #CissyHouston, who helped nurture that gift. I came across 'The #Harvard Report,' officially known as A Study of the #SoulMusic Environment, and learned that the president of Columbia Records had commissioned #HarvardBusiness School to analyze black music back in 1972. What I didn’t realize was that the president of #ColumbiaRecords at that time was Clive Davis—how surprising! The goal of that study was to figure out how to tap into the #blackmusic market since major record labels like #Motown, Stax Records, and #Philadelphia International Records were raking in the profits, leaving white record companies in the dust. I’m really looking forward to hearing #Pastor #JamalBryant break all this down on @jamalbryantpod.
BOYZ N THE HOOD was released 35 years ago today.
At just 23 years old, John Singleton became the youngest person ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director, as well as the first Black filmmaker to receive the nomination.
"People think that when we talk about...being Pro Black and what not, it means...being anti white. The only reason why they think that is because being pro white has always meant being anti Black. It's not the same thing."
