It's a wrap. This is how the AWE Change Project team finished their day... With style, fun and cake
Thanks to the team building event hosts - Prof @angiekaks; Prof. @MarkKaddumark; @MORDECAI1992; Prof. Noelline Nakasujja and Drs. Mayanja Kajumba and Martin Kaddu Mukasa.

The team engages in the #trafficjam game, a great teambuilding activity. In this game, participants are not allowed to move backwards. The only move allowed is forward to an open space & 1 person is allowed to make a move each time. The aim of the game is to ease problem solving.
Dr. Mayanja Kajumba notes that there has been great impact because of the AWE Change project but existing #stigma and myths associated with #epilepsy needs to combated. One myth is that patients with epilepsy cannot come out when the moon is full.

Prof. Mark Kaddu Mukasa (@MarkKaddumark), Co-PI on the AWE Change Project has urged researchers to keep abreast with changes in diagnosis & treatment of #Epilepsy. E.g. in first world countries, diagnosis has advanced from an electroencephalogram (EEG) to magnetoencephalography.
Prof. @angiekaks highlights achievements of the AWE Change project noting that a data entrant and EEG personnel have been trained during Aim 1 & 2 of the project. The project aims to reduce the public health burden of #epilepsy and #stigma associated with it.
#purpleday
Dr. Martin Kaddu Mukasa has credited the AWE Change project for securing four more electroencephalogram (EEG) machines for diagnosing #epiliespy in communities. Individuals have received free screening as part of the project which has saved them UGX 200,000/- .

Ms. Juliet Nabwire, coordinator of the AWE Change Research Team, thanked the team for being a ray of hope to #epilepsy patients in the community. She also thanked Prof. @angiekaks, project PI for ensuring that the patients and study participants receive food.

"I love being around people with #epilepsy because of the change I make in their lives. Most of the patients now call us the 'gods of epilepsy. However, access to medication remains a major challenge for patients with epilepsy"- Paul Lutaaya (@lutaayapauljr)

Through the AWE Change project implementation, Emmanuel Ochieng representing northern region, has learned to coordinate a team. Additionally, he has received positive news from patients' caregivers who credit the project for helping to reduce seizures among the adolescents.
"The lessons that we have learned in this project is that we can freely interact with patients of #epilepsy & offer them a better quality of life. The AWE Change project has debunked myths that #epilepsy is caused by witchcraft" - Opolot Mark.
