This Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest has said something truly fundamental, and I find his opinion highly convincing and clearly expressed.
We keep saying that Episcopal, Anglican, Lutheran, and other Protestant communities do not share the Catholic understanding of the Eucharist, with some viewing Communion primarily as a symbol. From the Catholic perspective, however, the Eucharist is not merely symbolic; it is the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
During the Last Supper, Jesus Christ did not say that the bread was merely a symbol of His Body. Instead, the Bible says - He said:
“And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.’” — Luke 22:19
So, where do these other denominations derive their understanding of the Eucharist and their sacramental practices?
According to Catholic teaching, the sacraments celebrated in communities that lack valid apostolic succession and valid priestly ordination are not considered valid in the same way as those celebrated in the Catholic Church. This is why Catholics generally cannot receive Communion in those communities.
Likewise, non-Catholic Christians who are not in full communion with the Catholic Church cannot ordinarily receive Holy Communion in the Catholic Church, although there are specific exceptions under Catholic canon law.
We must understand that, for Catholics, the Eucharist is not merely a religious symbol; it is the Real Presence of Jesus Christ.

How long does Jesus stay in you?
After you receive Holy Communion, Jesus remains truly present within you for about 10 minutes. For those few minutes, you are a living tabernacle.
St. Philip Neri took that seriously. When a man left Mass right after Communion, St. Philip sent two altar servers after him through the streets of Rome, carrying candles and ringing a bell, because Jesus was still in him.
That was the last time the man left Mass early.
What do you do right after you receive Communion?

One of my major concerns about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria is that the government appears to be totally indifferent and silent about what is happening.
From my point of view, I see this persecution as being largely political. Why? Because the government knows exactly what to do and how to do it—how to stop the violence and defend its citizens’ right to religious freedom, but it seems unwilling to do so.
So, I think this is totally unacceptable. The government’s ignorance shows how unwilling it is to protect its citizens.
However, the individuals committing these atrocities are not far away, and the government should know exactly how to apprehend them. One of the fundamental rights of every human being is freedom of religion.

♰ THE MIRACLE OF SAINT JANUARIUS ♰
🇻🇦 Sancte Ianuarius ora pro nobis 🙏
🇮🇹 San Gennaro prega per noi 🙏
🇺🇸 Saint Januarius pray for us 🙏
🎥 Today at 10:04am local time, 19 September 2026, his feast day, the dried blood of Saint Januarius (San Gennaro) completely liquid at the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Naples, Italy 🇮🇹
He is the patron saint of Naples, blood banks, and volcanic eruptions
The news was met with applause inside the cathedral. The liquefaction of Saint Januarius’ blood is traditionally observed three times each year, including on September 19, his feast day, and has been part of Catholic devotion in Naples for centuries.
Saint Januarius, also known as San Gennaro, was a bishop and martyr who gave his life for Christ during the Roman persecutions around A.D. 305 - under emperor diocletian. His blood has been preserved in sealed glass ampoules in Naples, and the centuries-old phenomenon continues to draw thousands of faithful who see it as a powerful sign connected to the intercession and protection of their beloved patron saint.
Personally, my family has been affected by the ravages of cancer.
I saw my 6’3” brother dwindle to 135lbs before he died. My mom had breast cancer.
Let's pray one Hail Mary for those who are suffering from cancer or other serious health issues 🙏🏻
If you know someone who is suffering or needs prayer, I will be happy to add them to my next rosary🙏🏻
