Africans Rising joins @mwamkoafrika in demanding the immediate release of Alieu Bah (@alieuimmortal) and 19 other comrades. Alieu, a member of Africans Rising was arrested today in Banjul during a peaceful protest, alongside 19 other Gambians.

The protest, organized under the banner “Gambians Against Looted Assets,” sought to present a petition regarding the disposal of assets belonging to former president Yahya Jammeh.

The 20 detainees are believed to be held at the Police Headquarters. The police are said to be planning to hold them in different Police Stations in the Greater Banjul Area.

Africans Rising unequivocally calls for the release of the 20 peaceful protesters, and urges the Gambian Government to respect and protect the fundamental right to protest.
