These two hooligans turn five in two months, which is insane to me.
They're the only dogs left on the homestead now - a reminder of the kind of life we once lived.
Luckily, dogs are pretty happy as long as you give them enough activity. They don't know all we've lost.
Mollymauk and Vex'ahlia are now 4 years old, where did my tiny potatoes go and who are these giants living in my house???
Some portraits from before/after today's training run
Mirko had a seizure on Sunday. Lasted a couple of minutes, no loss of consciousness, been fine since. The vet suspects we'll either see her start to get more of these smaller seizures, or that it's the lead-up to a grand mal one. I just. I don't know. I give up, a little.
(We could be extremely lucky and have this be a one-time thing, but when have we ever had luck when it comes to Mirko's health.)
The fact that people breed on lines with epilepsy always pisses me off but right now I'm ready to do murder.
@blue_satellite Came here very specifically to double check if you'd said anything, and Im so happy to see you did. Take your time, we all know how life can be! It's one of my favorite fanficseries, and I've spent the last few days binging my way through them. Absolutely amazing work!
@habkart ALSO the narrative beauty of Izuku's two most important inspirations going from saying he can't be a hero because of his quirklessness at the beginning of the story, to (finally) giving him the validation that yes, he can be a hero even without the quirk! π
@nelsondeb1225 Yeah, crossing my fingers that it will tide her through cold winters and give her good years. She won't run in harness anymore, but we have a big focus on good rehab/physiotherapy after all the months she was too sick to do anything so maybe she can run offleash with us.
My beautiful Mirko has so bad calcifications at the age of 3 years old that she has to retire from mushing and obedience training. She can barely be outside as any cold air makes her worse.
And yeah, that means I lost 4 dogs in about half a year so things are just GREAT here.
Only having three dogs is weird. Mirko, Mollymauk and Vex'ahlia are holding down the fort, and I don't think I'll get any new huskies for a while.
Meanwhile, I had to let Guhzzu go a few weeks back due to a lovely combination of cancer and a lipoma growing into his muscles that the vet didn't dare remove. He was the last of my old, elite team, the one I trusted in storms, lost trails and whiteouts.
Xrays, CT and a million appointments with various experts later, we're no closer to a diagnosis. She started librela shots (just had her third), and she's got her life back. It truly shows just how affected she was by the pain. Some photos of our life since then:
@katiek_wanders That show singlehandedly confirmed I didn't wanna specialise as a midwife after I finished my nursing degree. Geriatrics forever, thanks
