It has been a long time since I last wrote a letter.

I don't particularly like the phrase “someone saves someone else,” nor am I the type to deeply believe in it. However, since I occasionally hear such words directed at me – which feels far more than I deserve – it makes me look back and wonder if I, too, haven't been saved by all of you.

I am trying to live more simply, more candidly, or perhaps more boldly than before. The moments I fall into sentimentality have decreased significantly. Yet, no matter how many joyful days there are, it seems there is nothing that can be done about the world still being a sad place. In fact, maybe it feels that way because I am actually just too happy.

I have truly spoken so many words to you, and I have cast so many sounds into the world. I do not know exactly which melody or which small pebble of lyrics managed to reach each of you standing here right now, but I feel like I will always remain a person who keeps sending and casting things your way. Just as I did thirteen years ago, and just as I will in the future. As long as you are all there to listen.

It brings me immense joy that we can create memories together and grow older year after year. I love that I can still speak and sing to someone. Again and again, I see myself reflected through you. Do you feel the same way?

Thank you once again for being with me on this precious anniversary. Today is Saturday the 13th. A day that couldn't be any better. No matter who tries to say what it all means, I want to keep building up anniversaries and memories that only we know, right in a corner of my heart.
