PRESS STATEMENT BY THE LEAGUE OF IMAMS AND ALFAS IN YORUBALAND, EDO AND DELTA (ROOBITOH - رابطة)
RE: PROPOSED REDESIGN OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC) UNIFORM
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
All praise is due to Allah. May His peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, companions, and all who follow his guidance.
The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States (ROOBITOH) has noted the ongoing discussions regarding the proposed redesign of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform.
ROOBITOH believes that any reform of a national institution should reflect the diversity of Nigeria and respect the constitutional rights of every citizen, including the right to practise one's religion peacefully.
For Muslim women, modest dressing (الحجاب) is not merely a cultural preference but a religious obligation established in the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Therefore, any official uniform should make reasonable accommodation for Muslim female corps members to observe this obligation without discrimination.
Allah says:
«"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze, guard their chastity, and not display their adornment except that which ordinarily appears thereof..." (Qur'an 24:31)»
Allah also says:
«"O Prophet! Tell your wives, your daughters, and the believing women to draw their outer garments over themselves. That is more suitable so that they may be recognized and not be harmed." (Qur'an 33:59)»
Islam teaches that modest clothing protects dignity, preserves self-respect, and encourages interactions based on character, competence, and integrity rather than physical appearance. Modesty is a moral value that benefits individuals and society alike.
ROOBITOH therefore submits the following:
1. The redesigned NYSC uniform should accommodate the legitimate religious needs of Muslim female corps members, including a modest hijab that integrates with the official uniform.
2. Relevant stakeholders, including recognised Muslim women's organisations and religious representatives, should be consulted before the final design is approved.
3. National unity is strengthened, not weakened when diversity is respected and every citizen is able to serve the nation without compromising sincerely held religious beliefs.
4. Uniforms for both male and female corps members should promote decency, professionalism, safety, and respect for Nigeria's cultural and religious diversity.
ROOBITOH also notes that public institutions should avoid clothing designs that unnecessarily accentuate the body or compromise the values of modesty. A decent uniform helps foster professionalism, reduces undue emphasis on physical appearance, and creates an environment where corps members are respected for their service and contributions.
We therefore call on the Federal Government and the management of the NYSC to adopt an inclusive and consultative approach that respects the rights of all Nigerians while promoting national cohesion.
May Allah guide our leaders to decisions that promote justice, peace, mutual respect, and unity.
Signed:
League of Imams and Alfas Yorubaland Edo And Delta (ROOBITOH - رابطة)

Dr. Laz, what a guy! Larion College, what a school!
I attended a secondary school owned by a Catholic Igbo man whose establishment simply focused on academics and his own financial gains. No student was forced to do anything against their beliefs.
Upon registration, if a female Muslim name like Zainab, Aisha, or Khadeejah is mentioned as your name, or your religion was checked and you are a Muslim, it is mandatory to get the designated school hijab. It is left to you to use it or not.
Inside the school, we have a fully equipped mosque, and one break time was scheduled during Solatuz-Zuhr.
Thursday and Friday assemblies were coordinated the Islamic way. Nobody was forced to do what isn’t their belief.
During Hijrah celebrations, the school even pasted “Happy Hijrah” stickers on the school buses. We used to say it wasn’t necessary, but would the businessman listen?😅
Joy overflows in Igboland as our Igbo Muslims brothers and sisters return from a successful Hajj.
May Allah accept their worship, and may He make it possible for many more of our people to experience this blessed journey.
@ConceiveXCreate@KarounwiAdini Your brother wey dey knack people's wife no dey inside news? You'll just come online to pour out the grand mix of nonsense going on in your mind.
@YusufAsunmogejo It's part of colonisation strategy 'Prohibitions" use your position of authority to supress the colony, those telling you the school is privately owned knows exactly what they are doing ,it's their module operandi of hypocrisy.

@YusufAsunmogejo One thing i will say is this: as muslims , dont ever be weak. Militarily , Financially or politically . Don’t ever be in a situation where you will be at the mercy of the kuffs.Learn or perish.

Nobody is talking about this; the media is completely silent, pretending not to see it until they retaliate. Without justice, peace is merely an illusion.
During the last Ramadan, I met an elderly brother. We discussed life and then I learned he lives in Ebute Metta, where I used to live. The incident at the mosque where we met sparked a conversation about spreading Sunnah (proper Islamic teachings) in our local masjids. He mentioned that he and Egbon Sunny Alli pray together at a mosque where proper Islamic teachings are taught. After attending that mosque, He began practising Islam properly. This made me very happy because I know Egbon Sunny Alli personally, he’s our Egbon adugbo and his younger brother is my friend.
We beg Allah to keep us steadfast in His deen accept our acts of ibadah and grant us the best in this life and the hereafter. Aameen
After 15 years away from Islam and living as an atheist, I retook my Shahada this morning. Alhamdulillah, I’m finally back.
Allah guides whom He wills and leaves astray whom He wills. I’m grateful for His guidance.
I am placing a ₦2 million bounty for credible information that leads to the identification, location, and arrest of this individual.
This is the face of one of the criminals.
When they arrived, the first thing they did was try to dismantle the CCTV camera outside my shop.
Unfortunately for them, the camera had already captured the face of one of them before they tampered with it.
Losing goods worth over ₦100 million is not something anyone prays for.
This is one of the faces of the criminals who burgled my shop and carted away with solar goods worth over ₦100 million naira. It happened in Imo state, Owerri.
If you know this person or have any useful information about his whereabouts, please contact me privately or report it to the nearest security agency.
All information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
The ₦2 million reward will be paid once the information directly leads to his arrest.
Please help me by sharing this post widely. Someone, somewhere, may recognize this face.
Thank you.

My attention was drawn to this by one of our people here, and he asked me to go check the comments by our fellow Muslims. The comment section is wild. I see doubts and lack of understanding by many Muslims.
I never knew TikTok is as weird as this. This what happens when people are exposed to constant propaganda. I understand these creeping fears among many Muslims today, and it forms a major part of the warnings I have been giving about certain Yoruba gatekeepers and traditionalists.
These individuals are busy spreading misinformation and lazy propaganda. They try to paint Islam as an alien religion to our people. They weaponize these doubts to ask why we cannot pray in Yoruba and why we must use what they call an “alien” language.
But this confusion stems from a complete misunderstanding of both linguistics and Islamic history. Islam is a religion with a strong root.
First of all, Islam is not ONLY for Arabs. It is for all mankind. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was for all mankind. He spoke Arabic because it was the language of his immediate audience.
For any message to take root and spread, it has to be understood by the people right in front of you first. It would not be natural for a messenger to address his own community in a tongue they do not speak; the communication would break down on day one. To deliver a message effectively, you have to speak the language of the ground you stand on.
Again, please know that you don’t to be an Arab to become muslim. In fact, we have up to 20 million non-Muslim Arabs today. It tells you that you can be a fully practicing Muslim without having a single drop of Arab blood, because Islam is not an ethnic property.
In fact, if you look at the intellectual pillars of this religion, the historical reality is that the vast majority of the people who preserved and contributed to Islam the most were non-Arabs.
Take the Kutub al-Sittah, the foundational six books of Hadith that every Muslim relies on for example. Not a single one of those six authors was an Arab.
Imam al-Bukhari and Imam al-Tirmidhi came from modern Uzbekistan, Imam Muslim and Imam Ibn Majah were from Iran, Imam Abu Dawud was from the Sistan region, and Imam al-Nasa'i was from Turkmenistan. They were all Central Asian and Persian scholars.
Even when you look at other fields, the man who codified Arabic grammar itself, Sibawayh, was a Persian. The foundation of Islamic jurisprudence, Imam Abu Hanifa, was of Persian descent. Our greatest scientists and mathematicians such as al-Khwarizmi, were non-Arabs. Islam belongs to anyone who submits. Submission is the keyword. It is not tied to a specific geography.
Secondly, the idea that using Arabic in Salah makes the religion alien or inaccessible is a cognitive illusion.
To a layman who reads what this lady wrote, he or she would think they need to master the entire Arabic dictionary to understand their prayers.
