एक किशोर छात्र के रूप में मैंने कांग्रेस की विचारधारा को अपनाया था। तब से सार्वजनिक जीवन की लंबी यात्रा में मैंने जीत और हार दोनों देखी हैं। चुनावी हार मुझे विचलित नहीं करती, लेकिन लोकतंत्र पर लालच, प्रलोभन और दबाव का बढ़ता प्रभाव अवश्य चिंतित करता है।

लोकतंत्र की असली ताकत स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष निर्णय ���ें निहित है। मैं आशा करता हूँ कि हमारा लोकतंत्र इतना मजबूत रहे कि हर जनप्रतिनिधि अपने आदर्शों और सिद्धांतों के अनुसार मतदान कर सके।

मैं झारखंड के अपने भाइयों, बहनों और साथियों के प्रेम और समर्थन ��े लिए कृतज्ञ हूँ। मेरा संघर्ष हर स्तर पर जारी रहेगा, क्योंकि विचार कभी हारते नहीं हैं।

I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic news of the untimely demise of five brave Indian Air Force personnel in an IAF AN-32 aircraft crash in Jorhat district.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of these great heroes namely Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Denis Alam, who dedicated their lives to the service of the country. I do offer my deepest tributes to the brave sons of the nation.

We strongly oppose and express deep concern over the Assam government’s decision to remove the name of eminent freedom fighter and the first Assamese former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed from Barpeta Medical College. This decision is a grave insult.

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was a distinguished and respected leader. He was the first Assamese to serve the nation as the fifth President of India. What could be the justification for removing his name from Barpeta Medical College, which was named in honor of such a respected son of Assam?
Or is this yet another attempt by the Chief Minister to pursue communal politics and create religious polarization for vote-bank interests by removing the name of the late former President?

This attempt by the Assam government to erase the name of a great Assamese personality like Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed is extremely unfortunate and an insult to the sentiments of the people of Assam.

Such a decision by the Chief Minister and the government not only disrespects a former President but also shows utter disregard for a distinguished freedom fighter, the fifth President of India, and a proud Assamese figure whose remarkable service to the nation remains a significant part of our history.

We urge the Assam government to reconsider this decision and ensure that the name of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed remains associated with Barpeta Medical College. Respecting the history of Assam, its pride, and the contributions of its great personalities is the responsibility and duty of every citizen of the state.

While the government is busy extoling the "welfare of middle class through tax cuts" in the wake of Budget 2025, the concerns of the real middle class remain ignored. The working hours of labor remain extremely high - while workers of US and Japan work for 38 and 36.6 hours on average every week, Indian workers work for 46.7 hours. Working conditions remain poor and the focus of large corporates remains labor-centric, rather than innovation-centric. Indian economy does not need just tax cuts but also affirmative schemes for the true welfare of these classes.
