Reading the ceasefire alongside its coverage in Tehran, Moscow, and Washington, one thing stands out: this war was ended by everything around it, not anything at the table.

Tehran is declaring victory and using the Western press to validate it, its front pages stacking CNN, Foreign Policy, and The Atlantic as proof the U.S. lost, while Moscow amplifies the same line. It is a narrative built for a domestic audience that needs to hear the ruin was worth it.

Tout a commencé par des arrestations. Depuis le 7 juin, la police des mœurs des talibans ratisse le quartier de Jebrail et plusieurs zones résidentielles d’Hérat, interpellant les femmes jugées non conformes au code vestimentaire imposé. Une trentaine de détentions sont confirmées par l’UNAMA dans son briefing au Conseil de sécurité du 8 juin. Le chiffre réel est probablement plus élevé : le Front de la Liberté afghan évoque des dizaines d’enlèvements documentés par vidéos, diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux.
