Consensus and negotiation is rarely easy, but the results are meaningful.
HB2297 is no silver bullet, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. It will ensure the right housing is built in the right location.
Thanks to Rep. Biasiucci and @AzCities for working with us.
.@AzCities is happy to announce our position has moved to Support on #HB2297 for adaptive reuse multifamily construction. We would like to thank @AZMultihousing for working collaboratively on this and #HB2518 to find shared solutions to address our housing crisis. @roundsconsult
It’s a sad day as we’ve lost former Mayor and Councilmember Thelda Williams. Her City family mourns her and extends our heartfelt condolences to her family. Thelda’s service has touched and improved the lives of everyone here, and her legacy will endure far beyond our lifetimes.
Building more housing sounds good - until cities and towns kill a comprehensive bill to relieve the AZ #HousingCrisis.
Lawmakers talk a good game about more housing, then defeat a bill to do just that

“Thoughtful and well-planned communities” where middle class families can’t afford to live. And where a massive #housingcrisis goes on and on. #sad#HousingForAll
SB 1117 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to roll back exclusionary zoning rules and put Arizona on a path to affordability, integration, and sustainability. If you want to oppose it, fine, but don't do so hiding behind phony progressive rhetoric.
When people tell you who they are, believe them. This Chandler NIMBY group successfully organized to block 518 new affordable housing units.
Now they're opposing SB 1117 and making it *very* clear it's because it would allow for new affordable housing to be built.
SB 1117 passes out of committee! State policymakers were clear-eyed on the issue: housing affordability is the number one issue facing Arizonans, and telling them to just wait for local reforme that aren't coming just won't cut it. Onward!
.@Tempegov, on an official government account, is posting misleading bill summaries and lobbying against pro-housing state legislation. Inappropriate on many levels. Happily, they're getting roasted in the comments.
A friendly reminder to Arizona policymakers: your voters probably care more about the cost of living than they do the sanctity of local control. Just saying!
It’s time for @kaiser4az’s dense SB1117 striker aiming to cut back on restrictive zoning for the purpose of creating more housing. The bill also does a lot to put $ in the HTF. Cities here in full force to (presumably) oppose. Expected to pass committee @mnolangray
The AMA is proud to partner with @ThresholdAZ. We ask our rental housing owners to share the responsibility to reduce homelessness. We ask every owner to take one resident through the Threshold program
Our centralized landlord engagement service,
@ThresholdAZ by @hominc, has vastly expanded the quantity and quality of housing opportunities for households exiting homelessness with permanent housing assistance. Have you seen the explainer video? https://t.co/m2K0roIle5
