Has been awesome seeing so much support for our @Suns so far this season! We play OKC tomorrow and I won’t be able to make it, but would love to offer some great Suns fans tickets to the game. We obviously won’t be able to take care of everyone, but I have an extra 10 tickets in my personal suite and will pick 5 fans to go and take someone with them. Reply here and post a picture of who you would take with you to the game, and why! I will pick winners by noon tomorrow.
On July 18, 1899, in Long Island City, Queens, New York, a group of newspaper boys made a startling discovery. They found out that the supplier was providing them with fewer newspapers than they had paid for at the distribution centers. In response, the young newsboys took matters into their own hands. They overturned the supplier's cart, expelled him from the town, and either destroyed or pilfered his newspapers.
This incident quickly became known in Manhattan, where newsboys were already dissatisfied with the high costs of purchasing newspaper bundles from publishers William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer.
The following day, a large assembly of newsboys gathered at City Hall Park, united to form a union. They elected an 18-year-old named Louis “Kid Blink” Baletti as their president. Together, they declared a city-wide strike, demanding a reduction in the price of newspapers for newsboys. Despite the challenges, these determined youngsters achieved victory.
