After four long years, we have a tentative agreement. Despite cuts across @Gannett newsrooms, our @azrepublicguild won a contract that raises wages for everybody and preserves medical and retirement benefits.
This contract will provide our members an average raise of 13% over two years, offer protections from layoffs and finally provide us with mileage reimbursement that is tied to the IRS rate, among other hard-won benefits.
We are proud to announce we have ratified our first contract with 100% voting in favor of ratification. This first contract was four years in the making, and we appreciate all of the support we received from our community.
Some members will receive an increase of 47% and/or over $30k over the agreement. These are life-changing numbers that would not have been possible without your support. We thank everyone for standing with us, and will continue the fight to save local journalism.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the @AzRepublicGuild strike fund. This will help many of our lower-paid staffers for whom a walkout of any duration is a financial strain. Special thanks to the many who are our readers -- your support is noted!

We couldn’t have done any of this without the generous donations from our readers, former Republic guild members and our community. THANK YOU!

It’s DAY 2 of our strike, and today we’ll be at Cafe Tres Leches in the morning to chat with our readers and members of the community about our efforts.
@Gannett has claimed it’s going to “save local news.” It can start by agreeing to contracts that don't leave its journalists with less $ in their paycheck.
We’ll be in the bargaining room today, and are once again demanding Gannett to come to the table with realistic proposals.
