#EDET543 so true. It doesn't matter of your me is Elizabeth or something more complicated every name is important and should be said correctly no matter how long it takes to learn.
@LoriEdmondsPhD @clmallinson @CarolinaTesol@TESOL_Assn @NCDPI_ELs I like to tell my students how amazing they are because they already speak two languages. They always look so surprised.
#EDET543 great PD day for today and just hoping to have school tomorrow. Really don't want to have come back the day after memorial day if we have another snow day.
Something I ponder.... My high school students don't check email. Many elementary kids don't have email. How do we have an efficient way to message/notify/feedback...
#edet543#ellchat Still found myself thinking about some of the topics from last night's twitter chat this morning. Specifically how to engage my EL's in reading.
@tofubeth @ElYaafouriELD @judiehaynes We run into this issue in my district as well. We just had a multicultural fair where parents could come and showcase their culture and we had parents saying it wasn't anything special. We have to start with changing that perception. #ellchat
A3 Every teacher is responsible for incorporating language and literacy objectives in every lesson for the sake of our growing EL population. It makes a difference #ELLCHAT
@judiehaynes A5) I use epic and United for literacy online so Ss can hear stories in topics they're interested in English or native language. I also try and find a variety to texts on what the Ss are interested to read #ellchat
@judiehaynes A3) it also helps if every teacher buys in to what you are doing as an E L teacher and implements those changes in the classroom. #ellchat
