This is for the priest or teacher or merrie miss or laurel, if they still call you that, and any young person or even adult, I may be talking to in 15 years or so. I want you to know that I know what it’s like to feel the gates of hell opening to greet you, ready to triumphantly swallow you up in its’ fiery depths.
Last weekend, I had one of the worst experiences of my life. I had a similar experience, while I was in the army, in Göppingen, Germany 4 years ago and I never want to have that experience again, nor to witness anyone else having the same experience. My friend, the thought has come with full force to my mind, what would be my destiny should I terminate my own life.
That Saturday night, after making the decision to like myself, and that nobody hates me, I began to feel down on myself. I’’m not sure why I began feeling this way, but Sunday it grew worse and I did things I’m not proud of. Monday it grew worse, and my thoughts began a real nose-dive. I couldn’t even convince myself that I was ok from drawing on past triumphs – I couldn’t remember them. Because of my rebellion, I did things I’m not proud of, maybe to justify my self-hatred.
This experience of which I have written, came Tuesday morning, after wrestling with these thoughts for 3 days – I asked God to take my life and give it to my step-mom, who is dying. Not long after that, I experienced the feeling of going to hell – of actually being there – it took milliseconds of feeling that, but that’s all it took. And I never want to feel it again. I want you to know that I’m ok, you’re ok! Mike or Sheila or Jim or Tracy – you are all ok! The Lord loves you, He loves us all – and that’s the first step. The next one is to love you. Yourself. I don’t care if you’re a rebel – rebellion is good when you rebel against the right things. Please don’t rebel against Jesus Christ or your Father in Heaven – it’s a long, lonely road, that sort of rebellion – I know, I’ve been there, and I hope you don’t have to go there.

a musing from September 20, 1990
Two minds, one soul Two hearts, one mound of flesh
Floating, tumbling, screaming twisted explosion
Expands me three times smaller
Use a short finger and write a long lyric
Look at your mind, you move only with the flow
As the water – the easy way
You hundred million vagrant spirits occupied by falsehood
None see, but follow unknowing, an unknown quasi-god
Eyes that cannot see anything but the moment
Ears hearing only passing sound
Touching only that surrounding them
Smelling stench; feeling nothing
All senses dead, they operate in automatic overdrive
And shift to park at the close of the day
Hey lady! The one with the pink, neon legs, the painted lips
The silicone breasts: do they make you feel good?
Do they advance your spirit?
Do they get you laid on a nightly basis? Wanna screw?
Oh, I don’t have enough money? Are you a whore?
What do I need money for? Don’t you love me? Screw you!
Follow the masses to the depths of the great unknown sea
What will you be then? Climb a little
Go be a dew drop on the highest leaf on the tree!
What will you be then?
A reflection of everything In you is seen the creation of God.
The reflective sphere Dew drop – absorbing eternity.
Water, the ultimate gem
From Darkness to Direction — Why This Book Exists
2 months ago I had a conversation with God that changed everything. Not a bolt of lightning, not a voice from the sky—but a quiet, undeniable shift in my heart. For the first time in 55 years, I laid down the pride that had kept me from accepting Christ’s atonement for myself. That moment of surrender became the spark behind Emerge From Darkness.
This book is not a polished hero’s tale. It’s a raw, unfiltered journal of my journey through undiagnosed mania, broken relationships, addiction, spiritual confusion, and ultimately, hard-won peace. It’s written for anyone who’s felt alone in their own mind—anyone who’s ever wrestled with God, with shame, with the question: “Am I too far gone?”
In these pages, you’ll meet the young man who lived in a VW bus chasing dreams and karaoke contests. The middle-aged father who hurt the people he loved most while seeking to love them better. And the older, steadier man—me now—who finally understands that healing doesn’t mean perfection, and faith doesn't mean forgetting the fight.
Your support is helping this story reach the people who need it most: the hurting, the stuck, the ones still waiting for proof that they’re not alone. I don’t share this for pity—I share it for hope. Because if I can emerge from darkness, maybe someone else can too.
Thank you for standing with me. Your help isn’t just funding a book—it’s lighting the path for someone else to rise.
With gratitude,
Vance Davis https://t.co/wCosy1v8Cy
To the one who feels lost, numb, or broken—this is for you.
I’ve stood where you’re standing. On the edge. Wondering if there’s anything left to fight for.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
You are enough. You can rise. You will fly.
That’s why I started Homeful Casa—to help others standing at that same cliff, ready to jump or turn back. We give them a third option: healing, dignity, and the power to begin again.
If you believe in second chances, help us build more of them.
Donate. Share. Remind someone they’re not alone.

Homeful Casa: Building Homes, Restoring Lives
Imagine 14,000 Arizonans—veterans, parents, kids—without a home, facing each day alone. I know that struggle; at 16, I lived in a VW bus, resilient but isolated until kind souls showed me belonging. At Homeful Casa, we’re fighting to ensure no one endures that hardship solo.
We provide more than housing—we offer hope, tools, and a path to stability, inspired by my own journey from hardship to building a life for my family. Your support can transform lives, restoring dignity and unlocking potential, one family at a time.
Join us. Your donation turns compassion into action, making homes a reality for Arizona’s homeless. Together, let’s end this crisis. Donate today at https://t.co/ZsEoK1SqLk

Your support means the world, and I’d love if you could keep sharing to help us reach more readers. Together, we’re making a difference!
Gratefully,

Saw this on FB and had to share. 2A all the way.
Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06 on the deck rail. I left six cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.
While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, my neighbor across the street mowed his lawn, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.
After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself off the deck rail. It hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.
In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. You can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people.
Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.
The United States is third in murders throughout the World. But if you take out just four cities: Chicago , Detroit , Washington DC and New Orleans , the United States is fourth from the bottom, in the entire world, for murders.
These four Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S. All four of these cities are CONTROLLED BY DEMOCRATS. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - correct?
Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat .
Let me re-introduce you to my book - if you know someone who suffers from spiritual darkness, please donate $30 - you will receive a signed copy. Thank you
