AZ Wing Cadet Colonels Joseph Roehrick and Cynthia Liu received Gen. Carl A. Spaatz award certificates on Jan. 6, 2024, from Brig. Gen. Regena Aye, national vice commander @civilairpatrol. This the highest level in CAP's Cadet Program, achieved by fewer than 1% of all cadets.

After donating blood, Maj. Gen. Edward Phelka, national commander/CEO, @civilairpatrol, celebrated 101 blood drives at Falcon Composite Squadron in Mesa, AZ, 502 CAP-sponsored blood drives nationwide, and 30,273 units of blood donated through CAP’s Operation Pulse Lift mission.

#CivilAirPatrol Cadet Sr. Master Sgt. Nica Johnson flew her first training flight as a mission scanner during a precautionary search and rescue mission at Lake Havasu in western Arizona. Johnson, a student pilot, helped with preflight then took photos during the mission.

Col. Gail Halvorsen, the WWII veteran known as the "Candy Bomber" passed away yesterday at the age of 101. He was the keynote speaker at the AZ Wing Conference banquet in June 2016, regaling the audience with stories of his experiences dropping candy to children from his plane.
