@BernardJBaars phenomenology suggests that even "the world" is already a "stable enough" concept extracted from the sum total of our limited collective perceptions. there is no true objectivity as such, only intersubjectivity.
@MaryMajic@kekius9 Depends what you mean by "me".
if "me" is the character you appear to be in the dream, then no, this is part of the dream.
if "me" is the very capability to perceive the dream, not identified with anything in it, no body, no form, just consciousness experiencing the dream, yes
@kekius9 if whatever you perceive is out of a simulation, the one thing that can't be simulated is you "the observer" experiencing it. Not the character you think you are (can be part of the simulation). But as the formless "observer" you must be the only reality in the simulation.
@UltraKingDragon "I am!"
"What?" -> "I can't tell!"
"But I know that I am!"
Identity is the "what" -> relative, indirect, confusing, fragile, never complete
Being is the "that" -> absolute, direct, clear, unshakable, whole
If we discard the "what", we already know everything there is to know
@God_Questioner How could you be closer to reality than just being it ?
Getting an explanation or a good science model won't ever replace direct partaking.
@NotEvolution1 Okay, but bacteria in your guts chanting "Oh Lord! Save us! We're all sinners! Please forgive us!" doesn't make anymore sense. They just mistook a fart with a Godly rage! 🙂
@goodlifenvibes@God_Questioner religion used as an instrument of social control and political legitimation. If there is a God, He probably has nothing to do with this nonesense.
@goodlifenvibes@God_Questioner "since he apparently desires worship and threatens eternal punishment if we don’t get it right" -> this is a very old conception of God meant just to scare you into submission to your church and landlord.
@DanielMiessler this is already being done, for instance gpt-4o was natively text+audio bimodal. one neural network trained on both. which made it more sensitive to emotions carried by a text for instance, because it could relate it to tone, or emotional content learnt through voice
@DanielMiessler If you want to create an LLM that has an inner world model, you can do that, but you need all kinds of audio, video, sensory-motor inputs on top of text so that the model "sees" the meaning of a word beyond mere verbal presentation
@God_Questioner J. Krishnamurti did help me a lot understanding that being scientifically minded and spiritually minded are not opposites. I recommend listening to his talks.
