Police officers are there to protect and serve. He’s the line between order and chaos. And what do we see here?
A belly hanging over the belt.
Maldivian police don’t carry gun. So, what’s left?
Speed. Agility. Power.
If you can’t run, if you can’t dominate a criminal physically, then what exactly are you doing in uniform? Standing there like decoration? The badge isn’t magic, it doesn’t make people respect you. Respect comes from capability.
Criminals aren’t stupid. They see this. They see an officer who can’t chase them, can’t outlast them, can’t even intimidate them. That’s not protection. That’s an open invitation for chaos.
If you’re out of shape, if you can’t perform, you don’t belong on the street. Put him behind a desk, give him paperwork, but don’t put him out front pretending to protect people. This isn’t about shaming one individual. It applies to all officers who let their health slide to the point where it affects their ability to perform. An unhealthy police service doesn’t just put officers at risk, it puts the entire community at risk. We're at risk.
