Today, Police Commissioner Worley spoke to a large group of youth athletes on the importance of organized sports and teamwork. The youths who took part in the Diamond Collective also had the chance to meet the All-American baseball team and take part in a joint workout session.

End of Watch—August 29, 2012 & 1899: Police Officers Forrest "Dino" Taylor and Alonzo Bishop

On August 29, 2012, Police Officer Dino Taylor succumbed to injuries sustained in a vehicle crash at the intersection of Guilford Avenue and Centre Street while responding to back up other officers on February 18, 2012.

During the emergency response, an SUV ran a red light and struck his patrol car, pushing it into a utility pole. Officer Taylor suffered severe injuries that required therapy and spinal fusion surgery. He had undergone the surgery but experienced complications.
He was transferred to a second hospital for additional therapy but passed away several hours after arriving.

Officer Taylor had served with the Baltimore Police Department for 17 years. We will never forget.

On August 29, 1899, Police Officer Alonzo Bishop was killed when an automobile struck his patrol wagon. Officer Bishop had served with the Baltimore City Police Department for 13 years. We will never forget.

Southern District Attempted Murder Arrest

Members of the Baltimore Police Department’s Warrant Task Force have arrested a 45-year-old male in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 20, 2026, in the 3500 block of 7th Street.

The suspect, Leon Nolan, was wanted on an open warrant for shooting a 33-year-old male and was arrested on August 25th in the 3400 block of 7th Street.

Nolan was transported to Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with 1st Degree Attempted Murder.

Southern District Shooting Investigation

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 1:51 a.m., Southern District patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of 7th Street for a report of a shooting.

Once there, officers located a 33-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Southern District detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2499 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

Northwest District Involuntary Manslaughter Arrest

In connection with the death of 1-year-old David Reichman, who died on July 16, 2026, in the 6200 block of Greenspring Avenue, homicide detectives have arrested 32-year-old Yaakov Reichman.

The Medical Examiner's Office determined that the cause of death was due to hyperthermia (Heat) exposure, as the 1-year-old was left unattended in the family vehicle.

On August 24, 2026, Yaakov Reichman turned himself in at Police Headquarters. He was subsequently transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Northwest District Questionable Death Investigation

On July 16, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Northwest District patrol officers responded to the 6200 block of Greenspring Avenue for a report of an unconscious child.

Once there, officers located a 1-year-old male unresponsive.

Medics attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The victim's remains were transported to the Medical Examiner's office to determine the cause of death.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 1-year-old victim had been left in the vehicle before being discovered by his parent.

This death is currently being investigated as questionable.

Southern District Attempted Murder Arrest

In reference to the shooting that occurred in the Southern District, Baltimore City detectives have arrested 37-year-old Marquece Yarberough of Baltimore.

Yarberough was wanted in connection with the shooting of a 41-year-old male on August 12, 2026, in the 1500 block of Russell Street.

On August 21, 2026, Marquece Yarberough was arrested in Baltimore City and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

The barricade has concluded and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. All streets are being reopened.
