Cristiano Ronaldo was suspended for the first two games of this World Cup. Then came a visit to the United States with Infantino, and somehow the suspension itself got suspended. He played.

Had that ban held, Cristiano would have sat out both games without Roberto Martinez fearing for his life, and Portugal would have been inadvertently handed a rare gift: the opportunity to play with 11 men.

That entire plan also meant that instead of Switzerland, Argentina would have been playing Portugal in the quarterfinal. So yeah, FIFA rigged this one!
