I have never seen founders or co-founders from other countries publicly dragging talent the way Nigerians do. Unqualified applications happen everywhere, it’s part of the hiring process.
I always advise anyone doing contract work with a Nigerian bank, in fintech, or in any organization not to stay longer than 1–2 years max. Please try to upskill or move on.
The truth is, businesses in Nigeria will always run some departments on contract, especially companies with more than 1,000 employees.
Is it good for the business? Yes.
Is it a good approach? No.
The UK economy was not designed for one person to figure it out alone. Rent/mortgage, bills, council tax… everything assumes there are two of you.
Finding a committed, sensible partner who understands money isn’t just romantic. In this country, it’s genuinely strategic. Single people, please choose wisely! This is not an advice, it’s a warning.
