@MLPSandy Or David Mitchell? I don't find them depressing, but they often end with a "call to action" type vibe. Kind of a "we can do better" message in my opinion.
@MLPSandy Eifelheim by Michael Flynn is fundamentally positive even if it does have the plague in it at one point. You end up rooting for most of the characters. I don't know if it's "big" enough in scope to fit the bill 100%.

I don't get these predictive text games where people get interesting sentences. My sentence always ends with me endlessly trying to make plans and desperately insisting it'll be fun.
@_GMLeigh All of the above! I usually decide on a character and build around that for long campaigns. For one-offs I'm much more likely to pick a class to try. If I'm just uninspired, I find out what everyone else is doing and play a character/class that will help smooth out the group.
