I have run a manufacturing business for 22 years. And here’s what I have learnt.
The entire myth that villagers are bhola and fools is a filmy construct.
I have known my staff members who had two voter id’s and would sell their village vote for panchayat or MLA elections .. the panchayat election candidates spend more money to acquire voters by sending jeeps/vehicles to get them back to village on voting day.
They have registered for multiple schemes in Government to make most of the situation. Show houses in villages to avail all the benefit by government to villagers.
Some of them showed their relatives’ kids as their own in ESIC ( before Adhaar was made compulsory for biometric cards in 2017 ) so they get medical for them.
They get sick leaves written, take ESIC benefits and want us to show them absent while they continue their jobs.
The list is endless..
I do understand that poverty is an underlying issue but yet we can’t just shrug it off as that. Between what’s moral and legal, I choose legal.

Yesterday was the biggest day in Cars24's history. I spent most of it refreshing our dashboard.

On buying:

-770 families took home a car, 58% more than last year. The deliveries were 5x of a regular Sunday.
-More than half bought it on a loan.
-28% came from pincodes new to our map. Bhopal, Karnal, Vizag, Dehradun and many more joined our tribe.
-More than 40% sold to rural RTOs and growing faster than Urban RTOs showing how mobility is expanding.
-Our oldest customer was a 76 year old and the youngest was 19. Both first time buyers. In fact, around 70% cars were delivered to first time car owners.
-Petrol remains the most sold fuel type.
-SUVs saw the highest growth, Nexon and Punch were the most popular.
-Every 3rd car sold was an automatic.
-CNG cars saw maximum growth apart from Hybrids.
-One family in Dombivali took delivery at 3:00 am because that was their muhurat, and our team was there for it.

On owning:

-50 lakh+ vehicle owners used Cars24 to renew insurance, clear challans, check PUCC and top up FASTag.
-1 transaction every 2 seconds, all day.
-2 out of 3 transactions came from owners who had used Cars24 platforms before.

For years, people came to Cars24 to buy and sell their cars. Now they come back for everything in between as well.

Our ambition is to make car ownership possible for the next 20 crore Indians. A car is bought in a day and owned for years. We want to be there for all of it.
