The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) participated in a Media Town Hall hosted by Willow Media ahead of the Kenya Health Summit 2026, which will take place on 18th - 19th of August at KICC. During the Town Hall Health CS Aden Duale, SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi, CoG CEO Mary Mwiti and Kemsa CEO Waqo Ejersa shed light on the progress, challenges and future of Kenya’s health reforms, including the Social Health Authority (SHA), primary healthcare and access to quality care.

KEG CEO Linda Bach underscored the important role of the media in informing the public and holding institutions accountable on matters of health. Journalists present questioned and sought clear answers on the delivery of healthcare to Kenyans.

Our #KEGNewsroomVisits continued at Ghetto Radio, where the KEG delegation was hosted by Managing Director, Maji Maji and his team.

The engagement featured candid conversations on media sustainability, press freedom, journalists' safety, media diversity, and opportunities for collaboration through content and knowledge sharing to strengthen quality, impactful journalism.

"Ignoring Sheng as a radio broadcasting language in our audience data means overlooking audiences, losing revenue, ultimately affecting our sustainability," said MajiMaji.

The Kenya Editors Guild and the Media Council of Kenya met to discuss the implementation of an MoU between the two institutions .
Discussions revolved around;
✅Devolving KEG services/offices to the regions.
✅Exploring the possibility of establishing a welfare scheme for journalists and editors through partnership with institutions such as Retirement Benefits Authority @RBAKenya.
✅Collaboration on this year's Annual Editors Convention.

Mr Odindo thanked the Guild for honouring him. "Such gestures make wazees like myself really happy," he said while receiving the award.
