@russellearnshaw ability to problem solve or continuing to play pre-designed decisions regardless of the picture in front of them? Interception heaven at this rate
@philllewellyn Great players do not always become great coaches - in much the same way that many great coaches were not great players. Some may not have played at high level at all. I can see the value in bringing someone in who can relate on experience and guide as a role model though.
@philllewellyn i’m hoping we play in 2 weeks. my last experience of the cup was playing game 1 in the quarter finals. the following year we just said no as it seemed pointless. Just hoping Easter doesn’t kick our oppo’s team sheet. damage is already done to training schedules though
@philllewellyn I’m pretty sure last time I entered a school team in to national cup I had to tick a box to say whether i wanted local or was prepared to travel for round 1 - maybe same format works - are you more inclined to travel if you’ve won r1? momentum building desire?
@philllewellyn my issue with ‘local cup leagues’ is this -
we play the local sides all season. isn’t it fun to travel to a side you don’t play often, or welcome a side that has travelled to you. cup magic. Forget the ‘ Play at twickers’ carrot - let’s get a bus north or south and enjoy a game!
@philllewellyn 180m round trip - coach booked, players ready. thankfully we got the message Sunday so had plenty of time to adjust plans and save money. Home game for R2 and looking forward to welcoming our oppo
Great question posed by Joe Cole here. Are today’s players empowered to make in game decisions? I’ve always ensured I include decision making in coaching plans. Does the ethos of “it’s their game” still apply once you hit the prem? Wouldn’t the game be amazing if it did!
Will you chip in to help my team raise much-needed funds for men's health this #Movember? Together we can stop men dying too young. https://t.co/iPtVFKbva4
@witchy900@russellearnshaw@twowheelprof@Dan_Cottrell@balisalisbury I’ve also had a saying - breathe and believe - breathing calms you, buys thinking time. Believing in who you are gives strength. I ask what my oppo are doing well not what are we doing wrong. If players can define the oppo’s strength, they can adapt their game to match/beat it.
Working through a project and can’t wait to see the outcome! Developing rugby skills in stages - I wanted to write PASS all the way down the right hand side of pic 1 but ran out of room. ‘What Good Looks Like’ - Videos coming 💪🏉 #CoachTheToolBox#Rugby#EnablingDecisionMakers
Interesting language choice in commentary @SaracensWomen v @BristolBearsW - “We need to win the scrum and play THE play”. As coaches we we script to the specific of play THE play? Or is coaching a range of plays - player choose which one to use - better? #decisionmaking#rugby
#NewProfilePic Still of my favourite photos of me. Probably the most content and happy I’ve been in a long time. While I miss some of these moments, I am looking forward to many new ones! I’m sure it won’t be too long before the next moment is captured💪 #Reflections
Marking coursework- netball session - pupil’s objectives for lesson: ensure all feel confident receiving and passing ball, vary types of passing. Ensure they feel comfortable to shoot. Nothing about being good at anything, all about being comfortable to try. #HowWeDevelop
Mix of Pride& Disappointment: Pride: our U15s had a tough away game, played some great rugby, kept discipline when faced with behaviours outside the core values of rugby. Disappointment: we were unable to congratulate oppo on their win as they didn’t attend match tea. #CoreValues
