@KathleenCrand11@NancySkinnerCA Nancy approved $150M for ADU grants and finance assistance that’s available through CalHFA. There’s 2500 grants @ $40k/ea available. Less than 1000 have been used so far so there’s more to go around Berkeley. We’ve started here and success will bring more options.
@howtoadu Looking at the panel kit on a trailer leaves out the best part, the finished ADU! The kit is for our Julie plan which is shown here. This one was finished almost 10 years ago in Walnut Creek CA.

@AbundantHousing @Yimbyadu SB9 was the first step towards opening up SF zoned properties to higher density. We’ll need more laws like this and other process barriers reduced or removed. So many good housing projects lose the battle of public hearings. I haven’t even mentioned parking issues!
@AbundantHousing @Yimbyadu That and lots zoned multi are ridiculously priced so it forces the development cost into a high dollar resale or rent product to make it ink out. Hence current lack of affordable housing in CA
@AbundantHousing @Yimbyadu In principle yes, but there’s a few more layers of issues tied to land prices, zoning and building codes. Other manufacturers focus on that segment of housing.
@AbundantHousing @Yimbyadu The difference is housing that can be built for less than $100K! In some cases the cost drops to less than $50K/unit. I could go on to break it down even more.

@yimbyaction I decided to build ADUs instead of custom homes back in 2005 when the money was great for McMansions. All my builder friends thought I was crazy
