Seriously, what are we doing?

Energy bills have increased six times under this government.

Millions of British households are struggling with the cost of living.

Yet somehow we have hundreds of thousands of pounds available to help other countries pursue their climate ambitions.

I like Indonesia. I’ve spent a lot of time in Jakarta and I got married in Bali. It’s a fantastic country.

But if Indonesia wants to strengthen its climate governance, Indonesia should pay for it themselves.

British taxpayers have more than enough problems of their own to fund first.

The debate was whether “the West is right to be suspicious of Islam”?

The local paper describes @TRobinsonNewEra who was speaking at the debate as a “right-wing agitator” and an “ultra-nationalist”. The same outlet merely describes these aggressive activists - preventing people attending & clashing with police etc - as simply “protestors” who were “mostly peaceful”.

The claim that lettings were advertised with signs saying "no blacks, no dogs, no Irish", has been thoroughly explored and there is no reliable evidence that this was ever the case.

No archival, photographic, or legislative proof has ever substantiated that signs containing the exact phrase were widespread in post-war Britain.

While anti-Black and anti-Irish housing discrimination was rampant during the 1950s and 1960s, historians consider the specific phrase to be an overlapping "folk memory" rather than a commonly printed sign.

There is only one widely circulated photograph featuring this exact slogan. It depicts a handwritten sign in a boarding house window.

The image emerged in the late 1980s and is held by the London Metropolitan University Irish Studies Centre. Researchers have never been able to verify who took the photo, where it was taken, or when.

A 2015 historical review sparked widespread debate after finding zero record of these specific combined signs in any major British or Irish public archive.

In any event, in 1950s Britain, the common descriptor used by discriminating landlords was "Coloured," not "Black".

The phrase "No Coloureds" was frequently printed in newspaper classifieds. The term "Black" did not gain widespread political currency in the UK until the late 1970s and 1980s - the exact era when the combined phrase entered public consciousness.
