You work for the establishment. You are their employee. Your base pay should be paid by them.

A tip is a gratuity which is a favor or gift in return for service. It is not an entitlement. The choice to tip is up to the customer.

I tip but the amount of the tip varies in accordance to the level of service. A 40% tip would be for service above and beyond.

Restaurant prices have already gone up enough that they discourage average Americans from going out to eat. An expectation like this. Is just another reason why many are deciding to stay home and cook.

10% for good service, 15% for extraordinary service…
If you approach with pre-set 20/25/30 whatever, you will get nothing.
