Something to be said about the fact that Pike really thought Scanlan rejected her when this is how he looked at her not some 24 hours earlier 💜💛
Pike Trickfoot do you know how much you are yearned for.
There’s something wonderfully fearless about LAIKA’s #Wildwood. A breathtaking feat of animation and craftsmanship, it reminded me of dark fantasy classics like LABYRINTH and THE DARK CRYSTAL, when children’s adventures weren’t afraid to get weird, scary and genuinely dangerous.
Everything about this film is terrific, from its stunning visuals and richly imagined world to its memorable characters. I love how it embraces the darker, stranger parts of its story and goes places many animated family movies today would shy away from.
And it features my favorite movie sidekick of the year. Curtis FTW!
WILDWOOD is Laika at the apex of their storytelling and handcrafted prowess cultivated since Coraline. Spellbinding beyond belief it's a generation defining epic that bears that YA violent grit with a side of hope we haven't seen since CATCHING FIRE. Truly Gobsmacked right now.

Wildwood is the ultimate message to the entire world that handcrafted and human made art will always be above everything trying to shut it down and process it through prompts that make the world a worse place.
Make this movie blow up for the love of animation as a whole.
[very mild spoiler] but there’s a very brief shot of the mum selling art at a craft market and there’s a sign on her stall that the camera lingers on that says “buy real art before it’s gone forever!”
