FYI: We are not in debt because seniors get Social Security and Medicare. We are not in debt because single moms get food stamps. We're in debt because the rich dodge their taxes.
I was just informed that the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee (FESAC), of which I was a member, was terminated abruptly and all upcoming meetings are also canceled. This was a committee that has been around since at least 2000.
We were a group of experts from academia and policy (including folks like @DAcemogluMIT who was on it until recently) who met twice a year to advise BEA, BLS, Census, and the Commerce department on matters related to federal economic statistics.
We were all volunteers serving on the committee without any compensation because we wanted to help federal agencies who were already facing serious issues due to budget cuts. I fail to see how this will result in any cost savings.
Your reminder that Mitch McConnell kneecapped Barrack Obama, stole two Supreme Court seats & voted not to impeach Trump, twice - so no, he doesn’t get a cookie for voting against Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard & Bobby Kennedy Jr.
