So, in summary, public speaking isn’t about being born with the gift of gab, delivering a perfect performance, or impressing a hypercritical audience. It’s about communicating your ideas in a way that connects with others, and that’s something anyone can do with practice.
There are some misconceptions of Public Speaking that have affected people to probably develop the skill and shy away from public speaking. Let’s debunk some of them below;
5. Nervousness is a bad thing.
Finally, let’s tackle the idea that being nervous is a bad thing. Many assume that the best speakers are completely calm and collected. In reality, even seasoned speakers get nervous!
The difference is that they’ve learned to channel their nervous energy into enthusiasm and focus. A little bit of adrenaline can actually help you speak with more passion and energy. The key is not to eliminate nerves but to manage them.
