Proof that young athletes can do things the right way, with purpose and joy and still get all the financial rewards without just chasing the bag, and build a meaningful life in which to use those rewards. If you don't know DC like some of us do, go fix that.
If there's a modern example of how to do life for young athletes, I can't even imagine. Know yourself. Define your mission. Stick to foundational principles. Serve. Build relationships & elevate others. Give life a giant bear hug. Rewards will find you. You're an inspiration, DC!
If you're a male under 45, overweight, sullen & anxiety-ridden with no self-engendering resolve or animation & you've never picked up a shovel and dug a hole for no reason... you have your answer. Get up and go dig a hole. You're overcomplicating things & under-doing things.
Stop marking your life by arbitrary calendar events. Mark it by accomplishments. Learn something new. Throw a ball with a kid. Raise money for charity. Serve something outside yourself. No one's dying declaration has ever been, "I wish I had done less with my life."
No one who lights a candle puts it under a basket, but on a stand, that all may see. In the same way, let your light shine that others may see it. For once you were darkness, but now you are light. Go now in peace, and live as children of light. Merry Christmas.
