@SandraRodkey Well, perhaps we should start with your money. Sell a few of your possessions and pay for some homes in your own town. I’m sure there are plenty of people who could use the help. It’s always remarkably easy to spend somebody else’s fortune.

There will always be those who have and those who have nothing. But what fascinates me about Elon Musk is not simply the wealth he has created, but his extraordinary ability to persuade others that his vision can become reality.
He has convinced not just the public, but some of the most sceptical and demanding people in the world, the professional investment community. Having worked in that world myself, I know they don’t part with billions on charm alone. They question everything, challenge every assumption, and look for every flaw.
The fact that he has repeatedly brought investors of that calibre along with him is, to me, his greatest and most remarkable skill. He doesn’t just imagine the future, he persuades others that it can actually be built.
@TredzBikes ordered a bike for my granddaughters birthday, I place the order on the 26th of May, I’m still waiting and now DHL can’t find the shipment .
@HellyHansen trying to get anyone at Helly Hensen is impossible, their boots are terrible, these are less than two months old .. water proof .. impossible, I have a hole already
Pensions are there to earn a return on the money people put in, not to bankroll government vanity projects. It might come as a surprise to some, but pension savings actually belong to the people who worked for them. They are not a convenient pot for governments to raid whenever they fancy a headline about housing. The job is simple. Look after the money, grow it, and stop pretending it is anything else.
@PeterBleksley Sometimes the country that gave your parents the chance to build a life may not be the right one for you. If you find yourself at odds with its laws or culture, perhaps it’s worth considering whether another place might suit you better.
@fifiglover I thought you might enjoy meeting a certain “Uncle Len” — a character who’s been popping up in my Times comments and gathering a bit of a following. He’s part fictional, part stitched together from the more entertaining corners of real life, and people seem to be talking about him long after the posts go up.

@caitlinmoran I enjoyed your piece on Bonny Blue — as did my Uncle Len and Auntie Pam. Pam was rather taken aback when she saw I’d mentioned it in the comments, said it made us look ‘worldly’, which isn’t a word she likes. Len said it was the most excitement we’ve had since the smoke alarm went off during the fish pie, though that at least got him out into the garden.
@hugorifkind In the life style section , Love island. Bonny Blue, want men really think about her. Ozempic body, six-figure facelifts.. there are numerous and he’s gaining a fan club , very amusing
@Independent "It seems rather inevitable that a government, whose raison d'être is to consume its neighbors, shall bring about nothing but havoc and doom upon itself and those around it."
@ClareHymer Did the people of Gaza elect Hamas, or did they elect a nonviolent government who’s soul purpose was to improve the lives of Gaza’s population.. I can’t remember. Can someone enlighten me ?
