Most synthetic plastics are largely nonbiodegradable. They are usually improperly disposed & litter the environment. Sadly, they are most visible in Africa & Asian countries due to poor waste collection systems.

Every day, the equivalent of 2,000 garbage trucks full of plastic are dumped into the world's oceans, rivers & lakes.

Plastic pollution is a global problem. Every year 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers & seas.

Day 12/14

One major challenge we face in Nigeria is solid waste management. End of life tires (ELTs) are particularly a menace in most parts of the country.

Tire waste, including carbon emissions, impacts the environment through air, water & soil pollutants.

releasing toxic fumes that pollute air and water. They are also breeding grounds for rodents, mosquitos & emit chemicals as they decompose extremely slowly.

ELTs can be managed through Recycling & Upcycling.

At @The_Upcycle_Arc we have Upcycled over 154 waste tires so far.
