Today, I joined the Ontario Liberal Party in order to vote for Eric Lombardi, @EricDLombardi, in the upcoming leadership contest.

My involvement in politics has always been about advancing actual liberalism: expanding human freedoms. Free speech, free trade, free choice.

It is unfortunate that the Liberal Party of Canada, especially under Justin Trudeau, became the opposite of its namesake; always advancing leftist control.

In some ways, Eric is to my fiscal left and would spend more money than I would like to see. But he's a true liberal: open to new ideas, protective of freedoms, and able to call out authoritarian-progressive idiocy where he sees it. Also, he is blisteringly intelligent, hardworking, and refreshingly candid.

It would be good for Ontario to have a proper Liberal option in the next election (rather than a content-free ex-Trudeau cabinet minister.) It would fantastic for Waterloo region to have a UW engineer at the centre of our politics.

I am posting this for the record.
Glen McGregor publicly posted details about former Liberal MP Shaun Chen’s car accident, including claims of a serious head injury and supporting documentation. I questioned specific points that did not add up — the timeline, the next-day vote in the House, the completeness and authenticity of the report that was shared, and related inconsistencies — using facts and publicly available information.
He chose to reply to me under my account (@Cdhd123 / Not So Nice Canadian). That opened a direct exchange. I continued to respond with fact-based pushback. I did not insult, threaten, or harass him. I said nothing that violated any platform rules.
After engaging with me, he blocked me.
Because he is based in Ottawa covering Parliament Hill, and because Canadian taxpayers indirectly support the media ecosystem that employs journalists in that role, I find it unacceptable that a reporter can post claims, engage with a critic who raises legitimate questions, and then shut that critic out so they can no longer see or respond to further statements.
I will be contacting the relevant ombudsman / oversight body to formally complain about this conduct. Blocking a citizen who asked questions after the journalist himself chose to engage does not serve transparency or accountability.
I have every right to comment on a public post. He had every right to reply or not reply. Once he chose to engage, unilaterally removing my ability to follow the conversation is, in my view, unfair and inconsistent with the standards expected of someone in his position.
