“The army went into Darbaar Sahib not to eliminate a political figure or a political movement but to suppress the culture of people, attack their heart, to strike a blow at their spirit and self-confidence.”

As a response to the Indian army attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar in June 1984, The Sikh Foundation led by Dr Narinder Singh Kapany (“Father of Fiber Optics”) along with other Sikh organisations in the United States, released a full-page newspaper advertisement that was disseminated across major U.S. cities titled, “The Sikhs of India Are Much Like the American Colonists of 1776.”
The advertisement described the attacks in Punjab, the aftermath, some immediate goals, and Sikh beliefs as a people. It also affirmed the Sikh right to self determination.

🔸Major General Shabeg Singh (1 May 1924 - 6 June 1984) - A True War Hero Betrayed by the Nation He Served with Honour.
This highly decorated Indian Army officer shone brightest during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. He was the mastermind who helped create the legendary ‘Mukti Bahini’ guerrilla force and played a pivotal role in securing victory for Bangladesh. His tactical brilliance made him one of the greatest heroes of that war.
Yet, the same country he loved and bled for betrayed him brutally.
Just one day before his well-deserved retirement, he was dishonourably discharged on fabricated false charges.
Heartbroken by the growing atrocities and injustice against the Sikh community, Major General Shabeg Singh joined “Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale”. Using his unmatched military expertise, he became the chief strategist to defend Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) during Operation Blue Star.
A soldier who fought for justice till his last breath. Shaheed Major General Shabeg Singh forever remembered as a legendary hero who stood for the Sikh Panth when the system turned its back on him.
Sikhs around the world remember the brave defense of the Darbar Sahib Complex from an Indian Army invasion in June 1984.
The Battle of Amritsar was one of the key events of the Sikh Genocide that would rage across India under the coordination of the Indian government.
Baaz has published numerous articles on these events, from November 1984 and disappearances of young Sikh men across Punjab to the burning of the Sikh Reference Library and the legacy of Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Most people simplify June 1984 into one cold statement: “An operation against Sant Bhindranwale and his followers.”
Why did they pick June 3rd?
Indira Gandhi and her generals knew exactly what they were doing.
On June 3rd marked the Shaheedi Purab of Guru Arjan Dev Ji - one of the holiest days in the Sikh calendar. They knew thousands of innocent Sikhs - elders, mothers, fathers, children, and entire families would come to Harmandir Sahib from across the country to pay their respects.
So they lifted the curfew.
The Sikhs entered the
complex with faith and devotion, believing they had come for Gurpurab.
Then, without warning, the curfew was slammed back down.
They were allowed in but not allowed out.
By the morning of June 4th, as the sacred verses of Asa Di Vaar echoed through the complex, tanks and artillery had surrounded Harmandir Sahib. The Indian Army opened fire on the holiest shrine of the Sikhs with thousands of innocent pilgrims still trapped inside.
Not just armed Singhs fell that day.
Pilgrims. Mothers. Fathers. Children. Whole families.
People who had come only to honor Guru Sahib were massacred and never returned home.
The truth is far darker.
Why deliberately choose the biggest Sikh Gurpurab for the assault?
Why lift the curfew and lure thousands of innocents inside?
Why trap generations of Sikh families before unleashing tanks and artillery on them?
When you study the sequence of June 1984 honestly, the official narrative collapses.
This was not a surgical military operation, it was a calculated strike on the soul of the Sikh nation at its most sacred time, with its most vulnerable people present.

🔸Eye witness - “I saw a mother lying dead, her baby still breastfeeding on her chest. Then Indian Army soldier came, tossed the infant in the air and opened fire, blowing the baby away. Another army men slammed a baby against the wall, its brains spilling out”
In June 1984, the Indian government deliberately chose Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Gurpurab. The Indian Army let thousands of Sikh civilians enter Darbar Sahib but didn’t allow them to leave, so they could massacre as many Sikhs as possible.
