2020 Fellow in the Spotlight: Brittany Segundo @bandInterWebs
Brittany was a Mirzayan fellow with the Board on Mathematical Sciences and Analytics here @theNASEM. She is finishing a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University. We wish Brittany good luck!
Although the Mirzayan Fellows couldn’t take a fancy group photo this year because of COVID-19, I’m glad we were able to get a group Zoom photo (and we fit the screen perfectly)! @mirzayanfellow#mirzayan#NASEM#virtual#zoom#COVIDー19

I'm working on this series as part of my fellowship at
@theNASEM . To all my math and math-adjacent friends, please consider retweeting, sharing, registering, etc. for this series of webinars on different mathematical narratives. Will have 508-compliant live captioning 👌
Join us for a webinar series on how math improves our prosperity, health, and security starting on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 3 PM ET. Register at https://t.co/6Ugo2yU7nt. #IllustratingMath
As someone who frequently takes self-notes during a meeting and gets asked by (male) colleagues to circulate to the group, I find these tips helpful in declining the request👇🏻👇🏻 (Thread)
oh, what am I working on? I’m currently working on a queuing model that will show city council why changing the right lane of the road near my house to a right-turn-only lane was an objectively terrible idea...
Lewis Ntaimo at Texas A&M is an expert on applying stochastic programming methods to wildfire management. See his google scholar profile here for links to his papers: https://t.co/kBKFcTTTjw #ORMS
I am so ashamed of the president of my country. How dare you threaten to withdraw money while men and women risk their lives battling this fire, and while civilians lose everything. This from the man who wouldn’t visit a cemetery in the rain? I am so ashamed.
There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!
Congratulations to @AuburnU@SUNY@INFORMS_TAMU for winning the SUMMA CUM LAUDE for the best student chapter award at #informs2018. Really proud of all your hardwork and accomplishments.
Was quite nervous before my presentation, and a peer told me something along the lines of, "Everyone in the room is smart. You're not trying to be the smartest in the room. But you're the one who sat down and did the math, and they didn't." And I found that oddly reassuring.
My lab mate and I are presenting on water and fire applications of SMIP at 1:30! Come join us to find out if we address all the elements of nature... #INFORMS2018#ORMS
