@RobertJenrick Aren't there more effective ways to reduce taxes? This will just cause people to reduce their contracted working hours and then increase untaxed overtime.
@Pickle_cRypto I use revolut and never let it touch my main bank account. Once you have been approved by them I’ve never had any issues. I just move it out fairly quickly.
@MMTLabour@garyseconomics@DanNeidle I really don’t think that’s true, think about all the tech you use in your life, have they been beneficial to you. My iPhone and laptop provide a lot more value to me that what I paid for them
@EseAllegra It does make it easier to increase year on year, I agree. I still think the positives outweigh the negatives. Makes it so much easier to move house, if you don't have to pay stamp duty
@cristo_radio Too much money in the UK is in unproductive overvalued property, housing falling in real terms is a positive thing for the country over the long term, more money for other things. No stamp duty would increase the number of transactions benefiting the economy.
@RED660 This is bad math actually, that’s 0.48% of income tax receipts, this would be 0.48% of gross income - this would be closer to £7bn - still £58bn short however
@Drapetomaniacle@Eamonnmoran@DanNeidle Why not 1%, 3%, 10% - there has to be analysis behind the policy which considers the impact at each level - presumably his research says 2% and £10m is the optimal number or is it just plucked out of the air? I expect the latter
